Whats the best advice your parents ever gave you?

There are soo many BESTS. Do u know that most advice we get from parents are always about the opposite sex? Just a thought!

My mom (aunt) told me on my 13th birthday, She said "yetunde, Don't let any guy fool you. Always make sure you do what your heart tells you to do. This doesnt apply to boys only. In whatever situation you find yourself, listen to your heart". Boyyyy was she right?? I've always listened to what my mind/heart tells me... and 89% of the time, my heart is always right.

My dad said he is happy all his children are serving God and even if God calls him to a higher ground, he would not mind.

One of the best advice from Dad but too emotional to be accepted by me. (I want no higher ground work now for my dad)

The last word my dad gave me when I was leaving for Philippines is that 'your colour is going to be a barrier, but you have to show them that you're 300% better than them'. I think thats the best advice given to me so far, because it has really helped me a lot in this lchnko land.

On my sixteenth Birthday, (it was actually my elder sister) she said Nduka, , dont ever think with your manhood but with your brains. I always cherish this even though i dont follow them.

My parents said look up to God,your help will always come from him. get close to him, he'll make it worth your while. this has gone a long way in helping me. whenever things arent right i call on him and he always come to my aid. he has indeed made it worth my while.

Dad: Sex is controllable, You can live without it.. But if you find yourself in a situation that you can control, Trojan is the best. (It may sound weird coming from a dad, But i tell you wat.. i love that advice.. and i understand it more than anyone would, cos no one understand my dad as well as i do).

i really don't know/remember . . the best ones are yet to come. for now, most (not all) are crap!

my mom talks to me about God and being nicer to my siblings : "you're treating him like you don't know him" "did you pray before you went to bed?"
my dad talks to me about following his friends' kids' examples: "be like so and so (someone who probably just graduated). don't be like so and so (someone who probably just got pregnant)"

those count as advice i guess.

When i turned 18, my mom told me''If you want a man to respect you, get your degrees on the table. It's not how good you please him by sleeping with him, beacause at the end of the day, he'll find someone else that can do the same or even better than you do.But if he knows that you can take care of yourself, bring as much as he can to the table and he knows that even if he leaves you, you can still hold it down, he won't play with you.''
My dad said'' Men/Boys will alwayz be there, but your education will not. you can't talk to a man if he does everything for you''.

my Dad told me that in every situation i am,let me not forget God.
my Mum also told me that prayer is the key to every problem.
They let me know this when i am in a big problem that want to kill me.

I've got lots advice from my parents that are all the best... especially from my Dad...

Dad: You shouldn't have friends... Your friends should always be your books...

Dad: Always hold truth with you, and you shall never go down...

Dad: Abstain from people's property if you want to maintain your dignity...

Mom: Read had to pass your exams once... Too much trials brings about complete failure...

Indeed I've got lots of them... I think my Dad advice me approximately everyday...

My dad's most famous advice is this.

Dad: We are not always right, and sometimes we make mistakes.

I have interpreted it to mean, "take charge of your life, using force if necessary, because you are ultimately responsible for your actions and decisions". I have made every effort to follow that implied advice ever since!

My mum gave me what i continue to see as the best advice for anybody. She said, having observed and satisfied with whom I have always been:

'Never change your attitude by influence of negative behaviours from others towards you..remain who you are' and i have always been like that!

my mom tell me stories of her childhood with her brothers, sisters and parents, how she met my dad, what she did when she failed math, ... . . . she has the best stories ever!
