Osinbajo Suit To Stop Alleged Damaging Documentary Adjourned To 27th March by chibecanglobal(m): 4:46pm On Mar 13, 2015
By Innocent Anaba

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Friday, adjourned till March 27, to hear the suit by the Vice Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, challenging the legality of an alleged damaging documentary being aired by the African Independent Television, AIT and the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA.

Trial judge, Justice James Tsoho had earlier in the week, granted an interim order, restraining AIT and NTA from further broadcast of the said documentary pending the hearing and determination of the suit.

Osinbaja in the suit by his lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, SAN,is contending that the airing of the said documentary was against his fundamental rights.

At the resumed hearing in the matter, yesterday, Falana told the court that the two defendants had been served, and that he was ready to come back for hearing.

AIT was not represented by any lawyer, while Anthony Okochu represented NTA.

Okochu confirmed that the processes had been served on his client and that he needed time to respond to same.

The matter was thereafter, adjourned till March 27 for hearing, after all the necessary processes must have been filed and served.

Osinbajo, in the suit is complaining that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, having adjudged him a threat, sponsored documentaries to cause him disaffection in the eye of the public.

He argued that the videos were being aired in violation of his fundamental human right to dignity of human person, right to privacy and family virtue and right to life and/or livelihood as protected by Sections 33, 34 and 37 of the 1999 Constitution.

He is praying the court restrain AIT, NTA and any other broadcast stations under the control of BON from further disseminating and broadcasting the damaging videos.

According to him, “Unless the respondents are restrained in the manner requested in this application, damages will be grossly inadequate to compensate or redress the unquantifiable, unwarranted and malicious damage to the applicant’ right to dignity of human person, right to livelihood and privacy guaranteed and protected under Sections 33, 34 and 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

There was a restraining order to that effect until the suit is heard!

So in essence Ait and NTA cannot air the documentary till after the Hearing on the 27th!

I don't think so - it will probably be tendered as evidence or something, they can't usually publicize such so as not to attract judgement from public opinion.

Too many daft posters above asking "does it mean the advert would be aired until march 27"

Listen

The Judge has already ruled that there must be no documentary advert on any TV until the court hears the matter.

So as long as the matter has been adjourned...AIT and NTA must not do anything until the court hears their excuse.

See wash.

Chai APC don suffer.

In other news sha
Here is a breakdown of monies that have been wasted by GEJ:

1. Over $40 million were distributed to Pastors and other Christian leaders

2. Over $25 million were distributed to Imams in the North

3. Over $20 million were distributed to traditional leaders accross the country. Each traditional leader in the South West received between $250,000 to $300,000 from the President

4. Each rally costed at least $10 million: This includes, payment of about N500 - N3000 ($3 - $17) to mobilize "supporters", security, logistics, private jet transports etc. Multiply by at least 30 states will give over $300 million!!!

5. Media houses were bribed with millions, we were not privy to how much each received, but we can category say that AIT was given a check of $45 million to do their hatchet jobs.

6. Social media campaigns has gulped another $50 millions: This includes payment for short youtube videos, nairaland campaigns, twitter and facebook paid groups. Payment of people like Fani Kayode, Okupe, Omokri, Abati, bloggers like Linda Ikeji and others.

7. Another $8 million each was paid to each PDP governor for "mobilization" of their people and various stakeholders

8. Each minister received at least $1m - $2m for mobilization as well.

9. Several diasporan organizations have received a total of $3 million. These organizations are mainly based in the UK, United States and Canada.

10. Legal fees has gulped over $15 million

11. $10million was reserved for Foreign media "mobilization". Fani Kayode and others did their best to see how they could win Foreign media, unfortunately the only media that accepted Op-Ed or campaign related posts were the Washington Post and Washington Times. When it caused so much uproar, WP declined further publications. Also unfortunately for GEJ and his team. The US and UK govt are not in support of his Presidency, and major Foreign media like the New York Times and The Economist ALWAYS check with their governments before a major article is written about other foreign governments. Hence the duo supporting General Mohammadu Buhari.

In summary, after putting all the estimates we have, the GEJ government has literally squandared National wealth in the excess of $1billion to win a disgruntled public that only wants change!

We can do this - enough of incompetence, insensitivity, corruption and crass negligence of duty. We must change the status quo.

March 28 is the date. Let us come out and put our stamps on CHANGE!

NTA and AIT are aim of this corrupt swines called Peoples Deceiving Peoples party and no matter the propaganda documentary they propagate to the public will only attract sympathy for the opposition. Instead for PDP to focus on the issue based campaign, they rather settle for Rofo Rofo fight, according to Fela Kuti song because they have nothing to offer and has not done offered anything in the past 16 years in power. shameless PDP!!!
