Van Hanegem's Criticism Of Van Gaal Is Unfair by thegoodjoehunt3(m): 6:20pm On Mar 15, 2015
[b]Former Dutch International Willem Van Hanegem launched a scathing attack on Van Gaal. Van Hanegem accused Van Gaal of mistreating stars at Manchester United. He pointed out Ryan Giggs, Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria to back his points.

"What I hate to see is how Van Gaal is treating Ryan Giggs," Van Hanegem told The Mirror.

"Louis has more attention for the other geezer next to him. But Louis forgets that we are talking here about Ryan Giggs.

"Louis has played for Telstar, FC Antwerp and Sparta Rotterdam. Giggs was a giant as a player. He deserves more respect than this.

"Falcao has proven over the past few years that he is one of the best strikers in the world. But at United he is being treated as if he was signed from an old fourth division club.

"Sometimes he's allowed to play a few minutes, sometimes he is allowed to start, other times he sits 90 minutes on the bench, or even worse, in the stands.

"I can see there are more players not happy at United. Di Maria was one of the most important links in the chain at Real Madrid. In the World Cup he was the best player in the Argentina side.

"But at United he hasn't been able to pass a ball over more than 25 yards most times."

Willem Van Hanegem's attack on Van Gaal seems unfair. Van Hanegem does not work with the staffs and players of Manchester United. So, how is he sure his suspicions are true?

If he was a member of the staffs of Manchester United, I would have taking his points to heart, he is not and it seems he has an ulterior motive for his attack.

Van Hanegem talks about Van Gaal spending more time with the other coaches than Ryan Giggs. He sees this as a form of disrespect. It could be the other way around, maybe Van Gaal trust the work of Ryan Giggs and does not need to spend time giving Giggs instructions.

Van Hanegem listed Ryan Giggs accomplished footballing career to prove Van Gaal needs to show Giggs respect. He forgot to point out Van Gaal's coaching career so far. A man who coached Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Van Gaal has multiple titles to his name.

I do not understand how Van Hanegem is sure Van Gaal disrespected Ryan Giggs, when Giggs has never complained about his relationship with the Manchester United boss.

Van Hanegem should understand that Falcao might be an accomplished striker in Europe but as a Manchester United player, he is yet to show the kind of form that made him one of the most feared attackers in the game.

Falcao playing for the Under-21 side of Manchester United is something that goes on in Manchester United when a player is not fit or sharp. Rooney, Ferdinand, Vidic, Saha, Nani and Anderson have played or trained with a Manchester United Junior side when they lacked sharpness or fitness. Van Gaal did not disrespect Falcao but followed a system that worked for Manchester United for a long time.

When Falcao flourishes, he will get his chance to start regularly for Manchester United.

Di Maria might have been outstanding for Benfica, Real Madrid and Argentina. But, Van Gaal needs him to impress in a Manchester United jersey. I do not think the fans and members of the club want a player picked when he did not merit the chance.

Di maria is a bright player and his coaches at Manchester United are behind him. If Di Maria improves, he will get the accolades he deserves. Van Gaal is not going to judge him on previous performances.

Some players take time to adjust to the English Premier League. I do not think Van Gaal deserves criticism for players not doing well. There is a work in progress going on at Manchester United. I can not see what Van Hanegem hopes to achieve with his remarks against Van Gaal.
