it is an innova 3100 canOBD2 with optional repair solutions. it works on virtually any vehicle. 1996 and newer vehicles.still trying to load pix. price is 20,000 naira only.

Generally, you cant stop your mechanic from guessing. However you can take you car to mechanic that knows his (/or her - what a man can do a woman can do too) stuff and has invested in proper tools.

It's ok, I had a demo from a dealer last November, and found it fiddly.
I tried it on 5 different vehicles:

1) 1998 Audi A4 Quattro (mine)
2) 1999 Toyota Camry 3,0 V6 (a Nairaland customer's)
3) 1999 Honda Accord (a Nairaland customers)
4) 2005 Audi Allroad 2,5 TDI Quattro
5) 2003 VW Passat 2,8 4Motion.

It worked on the Audi A4 engines fine, though it doesn't display live data.
Worked on the Audi Allroad, but couldn't actuate engine components with ignition on or off.
It was only able to give me the ECU version on the VW Passat, and failed to communicate further.
Didn't communicate with the Toyota or Honda (too old??)

Right now, it's on back-order, which means the suppliers have none in stock, and are not sure when they'll be back in.
I sent an email regarding order quantity, their customer service is really good, they replied within 2 hours - different time zone to the UK, they're an American-based company.

They can supply me any number, I don't need to buy in bulk, which is favourable.
No payment gateway for Nigeria though, and US shipping via UPS or FEDEX priority soon raises the cost.
The base price is $194, with adapters to enable it to work on a wider range of vehicles extra. If you specify options to enable the user range to be expanded, then it gets pricey, pretty much like a base model car, with added extras.

The demo I had did not cover other systems like transmission, airbag, ABS, aircon systems, it worked fine on the 2 Audi engines though.
