"They took 506 young women and children. They killed about 50 of them before leaving," a trader called Souleymane Ali told Reuters in the town. "We don't know if they killed others after leaving, but they took the rest with them." Lieutenant Colonel Toumba Mohamed, the Nigerien commander of the Niger-Chad forces in Damasak, said residents had reported between 400 and 500 women and children kidnapped. |

This is a bit puzzling.Is it that the Chadian and nigerien troops left the town because they were annoyed Nigerian troops didn't come to secure d liberated town and in that small gap of time d boko haram came and wreaked this havoc; or d town wasn't liberated in d first place? Whatever it is,though it seems as if our military failures are being more celebrated than their successes,d fact is that all Nigerians agree our combat troops are capable of d job;its d leadership from d very top that is being called into question and if indeed d story is true,no matter d agenda of d Chadians, d CinC has no excuse for any kind of military failure under his watch.The bulk stops at Jonathan's table and he has consistently, deliberately or thru incompetence shown he doesn't have what it takes to act as d CinC. |
