I just read a post here on Nairaland saying that Buhari might be the Nelson Mandela of Nigeria.

I think its quite unfortunate for any well thinking Nigerian to make a statement like that. First, Buhari has not been declared the winner of the elections yet, second, Buhari is an old man, and from his previous records of leadership was a corrupt military ruler who didn't take well to criticisms(the case of the Kutis and Sai Tolarin especially coming to mind). If GEJ wins, the same things can be said from his rule; he has too many imperfections.

I predict the result of this elections, though very significant, won't give us the break we are looking for in this country. Change or transformation may very well happen, but our high hopes and insane castles we've built wrt Buhari or GEJ will have to be brought low.

This country won't have the soil turning positive change we need until the strongholds of tribalism and religious sentiments and nepotism are torn down in the minds of our youths. We need wisdom and enlightenment in this country for real change to occur. We must be united and educated and learn from the mistakes of our historical past before the noble teachings of leadership will be heralded in our beloved nation.

The reason the world is focusing on Nigeria now is because of her obvious potential. We can be great, but that'll only happen once we get knowledge and learn collectively from our country's mistakes and drop the sentiments of tribalistic religion and get united.

So whether Buhari or GEJ wins, we still have a long way to go. As the basis of our electing these two are still mostly based on sentiments and corruption. Go to the streets and ask.

We must invest in wisdom and our future generation. May our country live long. May we have peace and tranquility and positive development in our future.

This election has shown that democracy is not meant for third world countries.

What am quite sure of is, humans can't direct themselves perfectly.

Minimize your expectations so that you won't meet huge disappointments..

They can only try their very best, that is, if they so wish.

Their past records have shown terrible flaws in Character. Their best is not enough for the change people are looking for

And now, to whom do we call on- God himself!

That's if you believe in God, and if you don't.... Then you rather allow continual downtrodden.

Just calling on God would do no good.

I cannot say any better but what i know is that no matter who is elected, the
demographic and economic realities of Nigeria will
persist
and sorry to say there is a very limited range of
politically-viable solutions for dealing with them.
