It is time to end all this silly fakery black women. Having lived in Europe for the past decade I can tell you the single most embarrassing thing I see on a daily basis is a black woman walking down the road with a shiny plastic atrocity on her head. We should encourage our young women to turn away from this non-sense and go back to our Natural God given hair. In recent times the movement for natural hair is gathering pace with the likes of the Beautiful Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie wearing what her mamma gave her. It is the biggest sign of an inferiority complex to wearing what is not ours because of some false "beauty" arbitrary standard set by God knows who.

OP, if you want me to take you serious, do away with your phones, your cement-built house, the clothes you are wearing sewn with Western sewing machines. Stop entering or driving cars. Throw away your phones. Stop using the Internet or going to hospitals. In short, throw away anything that has the mark of Westernization in your life including your written English (education), then we can debate. Until then, you have no point.

On the defensive from the start....You are seriously comparing material objects to something that is inherently from your body.... Next you will be justifying bleaching.

Stop being a hypocrite!! He who wants equity must come with clean hands. You can't choose the Western acts that favours you, and condemn the acts that favours the women. Lead by example and discard the Western stuffs that you think is the bane of African beauty. If you can't do that, then you are not to be taken serious. Next time your hair grows, please don't barb it with a Western clipper. Don't shave your armpit too. Look trashy. Go back to wearing leaves or carrying elephant tusks before you can complain. Nonsense!!

Why did you use a clipper to barb your hair in order to look good? Why weren't you leaving your hair uncombed and unshaved since you want to practice what you preach? BTW, why are you using a phone? Go back to the Stone Age!!

And there in lies the Problem, You and Many millions of Black Women really view Weaves are "favorable" as against the unfavorable natural hair and if you have your Natural Hair you look Trashy. I don't blame you this is the message may mothers pass unto their children from day one. We have to relax your hair it look trashy we have to bleach your skin its to dark.

Like I said I live in Europe and have seen this stupi.d attitude first hand. In a group of black girls 99% will be wearing weave and if one has her natural hair see the abuse she gets from those girls. And the funny thing is white people just laugh at the ones that wear weave I have many white friends and we just shake our heads at the how fake and ugly it looks.

Grooming is not faking and lying to yourself... Were we not combing and cutting our hair before oyinbo came, you are clutching at straws here girl you know the epidemic of black women wearing weave is out of hand and seeing themselves as less than other races is not good but yet you are adamant in teaching your daughter that.

Err, where did I say I viewed weaves as "favorable"? Are you suffering from poor eyesight? (No pun intended). I don't know about you or the mothers you are talking about, but my sister rocks both weaves and her natural hair when she wants. So I don't even get what you are trying to type. And you can't judge Europe with Naija. Over here, girls don't get abused for wearing their natural hair. Take your fight to your European counterparts.

Remind me, which of your forefather invented clippers? When you carve your hair, was it your forefathers that invented the clippers? The electricity you used in carving your hair, is it your forefathers that discovered it? How can you even compare bleaching to wearing weave-on? Does wearing weaves discolour your natural hair?

Lame reply. I never expected anything coherent from you anyways. And for your info, I'm a guy but won't let you denigrate the females for no cogent reasons, or for the same reasons men are guilty of.

Bros, it's easy for you to judge. Try and keep your hair like an African woman, but don't relax or apply foreign creams on your hair to make it soft. Then come back here and testify how it's EASY for you to groom and COMB it. undecided

The most misunderstood words in NLand; Coherent and illiterate. Once you say a person is not the former or is the latter does not make it true. But hey, you were implying that weave is favorable to the black woman or else what you said earlier wasn't coherent.

And I have kept and Afro in the past with out relaxer and it looked really good. My sisters and mother haven't touched relaxer in years since they realized how stupi.d it was all have lovely natural hair and look beautiful. The trick is coconut oil or Shea Butter something our ancestors knew in the past but was lost when white people came and told us that we look better with relaxer and weave.

Its not trust me its just that we dont want to explore it, imagine the industry that could be built on indigenous promotion of beauty. It is no coincidence that most of the beaity products being pawned in Naija is product or controlled by Oyinbo, Chinese or Lebanese

This topic is baseless.
There is nothing I hate hearing more than 'Weaves symbolise inferiority complex' undecided
It doesn't.
I'm personally not a huge fan of weaves, as I love my hair, but there are times when taking care of your hair everyday becomes stressful both to you and your hair.
Its not about wanting to look like others (what?!) It's about doing what you want and what you feel like doing without listening to critics like you.
If I feel like I'll rock my natural hair and if I don't, you can't force you opinion on me tongue

I'm just trying to correct the mentality that weaves are wrong.

Can you compare your afro with Chimamanda's hair? You think Chimamanda doesn't apply relaxer but coconut oil in her hair? And she told you this? You'd consider comedy as a career. By the way, why are you still wearing Western-sewn clothes on your body? Why not stick to the leaves our forefathers wore and showcase your natural beauty?

If it were only that I don't think I would have a Problem with it. But don't lie there is a wide spread perception in the black population that weave is classier a sign of affluence and beauty. I remember watching on CNN a discussion on weave-on in Nigeria and they interviewed several women one was a lawyers and she said as a professional wearing your natural hair is a no no as you look unkept, dirty and poor and weave was a sign of upwards mobility. I was so embarrassed to hear such non sense being broadcast to the world. In no other race do people wear the hair or imitation of another races hair and feel proud of it.

Maybe your fore-fathers wore leaves but mine certainly did not again you sound stupyd comparing something material man made things to intrinsic God made attributes.

And no I didn't go to college to be comedian but I do consider myself humorous tongue. Here is a candid interview given by one of the most beautiful women in Nigeria on the subject.

Yeah, your fore-fathers around 500BC adorned themselves with Armani jeans, right? grin

The shea butter you are ranting about, who made it? Is it not processed by humans from God's created raw materials? The weave-on you are yapping about, is it not made by man from God's created materials? Are you this dumb? Did God create a car? Didn't he create the raw materials through which man created a car? Is a car now bad? From your logic, a car is fake, so you are a hypocrite for riding it. Damn!! Your stupidity is alarming!!

Chimamanda is one of the most beautiful woman in Nigeria? I can confirm you're inherently blind. And who the fúck made Chimamanda the spokeswoman of all the humans in the world? Why should her opinion determine how I live my life? Is she God? GTFOH!!

They say when a foool is ranting don't rant along with them lest passersby take you for brothers.

1) Yes my forefathers wore dolce and gabana as well
2) Again you are comparing something from your body to something material. But in your head you have made a valid point- this your logic "Illness is from your body so if you treat it with medicine which is man made, you are a hypocrite" if you can't comprehend they point I am trying to convey I can't help you.
3) I said she is one of the most beautiful women in Nigeria and if you cant see that then again no point ranting and I never made her spokeswoman for humanity. But some people like to argue for argument sake especially when they see that the person they are Ranting at is making good points somewhat like Orubebe.

If you like go tell you daughter to go put on a plastic wig on her head because it makes her "beautiful" and that her natural hair is something that has to be improved upon, give her an inferiority complex and tell her she is not good enough as she is.

Bro, white people wear weaves. Does it mean they feel inferior? Blacks wear weaves, braids, natural hair etc. It doesn't make anyone inferior. Its just about choice. We wear weaves and braids most times as protective styling to prevent our hair from breaking. So get your facts rights before coming here to rant. How does wearing a weave make someone feel better about herself especially when it is obvious that it is a weave? Sometimes, I don't know how people think. This your 'beautiful' chimamanda doesn't move around with her natural hair all the time you know? She installs braids to look different most times. Its so irritating to hear that I feel inferior because I'm wearing brazillian hair. *hiss
