A popular statement has been going on around lately and is still being circulated around saying 'The voice of the people is the voice of God'especially since the recent election that was conducted in Nigeria and the result.. I am here to atleast convince u that the statement may be wrong.. Firstly let me start by telling you am not a pastor,teacher or anything spiritual like that...but i was an art student and once a crs student and i feel am as good as anyone to give this.. Lets take a look at the isrealites in the bible when moses went to meet God for the commandments..they became unpatient and decided to create a small god in form of a graven image..and they started worshipping the idol...now in this case u can call the isrealites THE PEOPLe because they are many and because they agreed in unison...we can say thats their VOICE... Now if the voice of the people had been the voice of God...why was God angry at the people's behaviour...why was moses God's spokesman angry?....God could have just said 'because u are a people and u concluded with ONE voice..i agree with you...keep and serve the image?'...thats my first reason... We could all remember King saul in the bible and his disobedience that led to his downfall..God actually told him to destroy all the amalekites and shouldnot keep anything for himself...however saul denied and kept most of the best things...he even saved the king of the amalekite..:agag'from getting killed...he comitted most of these atrocities because the PEOPLE supported him...he listened to the people's VOICE... Why then did God get angry...cursed him throug samuel...Why did God's presence left him? God could have just said'since its d people's voice..i agree..u can continue your reign as king' More reasons are on the way but for now i must rest...Hope i have been able to convince you... |

yes I agree, not in all cases. even the Bible warns about multitude's inclination. Exodus 23:2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: |
