This is the long and short of it all! We can prevaricate and beat about the bush all we like, but eventually we all come back to the truth of it all: that the north (muslim core north) wanted power back......and by jove were they prepared to do ANYTHING to retrieve their 'birthright' from that 'annoying minority Otuoke inteloper'......they schemed, threatened and slithered their way back to Aso Rock and damned the consequences! wink

It would have been more honourable for Gov. Aliyu to produce the evidence or he had better kept quiet for life.

In summary, APC has only single term...in 2019, it's the turn of PDP or another candidate. So, no more 2 terms, righty?

What is this Black Froggy immigrant talking? I'm even ashamed. To comment about him. Someone who didn't lay a structure on ground after 8years as a leader.
Someone who wanted vying for the post of the vice president but couldn't win his senetorial seat.
A big shame to him. #Spits. .........Cj

If Buhari is alive to do two terms, APC will rule for at least 24 years. However, if he dies in office, APC will have to bring a northern presidential candidate to complete his term or else APC becomes another PDP.

Till date the loud-mouthed governor has not produced any document where single term was agreed.
The Sondagi of Nupe should go and rest in his farm.
I am even happy that he also lost the senatorial election.
Some people can be damn annoying. Thank God for d mysterious ways he works,if not its such utterly repulsive and corrupt personalities like Aliyu or Sule Lamido d north would have thrown up for Nigerians to choose from.

The Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, on Friday said the recent defeat of the People Democratic Party at both national and state elections did not come to Nigerians as a surprise because “we saw it coming.”

Aliyu, who spoke in Minna as a special guest of honour at a convocation lecture of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, argued that the refusal of the PDP to honour the “single-term agreement” led to the party’s heavy defeat at both the Presidential and governorship polls.

The lecture was titled ‘The role of Law in the enhancement of socio-economic growth of the nation’.

The governor said, “Many of us saw it coming. When I reminded us that we had an agreement for one term(that President Goodluck Jonathan had agreed to run for one term), they nearly crucified me. When I led the G7(group of seven aggrieved PDP governors), they did not do what we wanted them to do until five members left and they did what we asked them to do.”

Addressing Prof. Ahmed Alkali, Political Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Aliyu said, “Many of us saw the defeat coming. Even when I told some of us (PDP members) that we had a one-term agreement, they nearly crucified me. Now, sir (to Alkali), you have seen the results.

“I recall also that when APC(All Progressives Congress) came on board(emerged as a political party), I was the first person to say I was very happy that ‘now, we have a strong party to put PDP on its toes’ and many people were asking that ‘are you really a member’.

“Up until the last elections, the allegation against me had always been that I was a supporter of APC; and now, you have seen the results.”

Aliyu listed other reasons he believed accounted for the failure of the PDP at the polls.

He added, “Nigerians wanted a change and Nigerians got the change. You will have many reasons. One, PDP has been around for 16 years and there is no way you will be around for 16 years and you will not make mistakes. So, there are many reasons that will be put together and we will be able to understand and guide people.”

The governor explained that corruption did not end at stealing money but indulging in malpractices, admonishing people to desist from acts that were capable of destroying our economy.

Speaking after former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Legbo Kutigi, delivered a lecture, Aliyu argued that not only government officials were corrupt, adding that corruption “starts from the home.”

He called for devolution of power in the country, saying politics was about bringing development to the society and not to enrich oneself.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council, FUTM, Prof. Ahmed Alkali, said, “Nigeria is at a crossroads because 2015 is a year of political transition.

“If Nigeria must fight corruption, we must all check ourselves to ensure that at all levels, we kill corruption. Anything we do in excess is corruption.”

Babangida Aliyu, is telling us that the the PDP 'gentlemanly' agreement supercedes The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Gods, why was I born into the same country with these mor0ns ? Why ?

Did GEJ know it doesn't supercede when he entered into the agreement with them? If you accept the devil's gift be prepared to pay back with the agreed sacrifices.

Babangida Aliyu is one of the men history will label as cowards. . He started the agitation of the G7 Governors, he was convinced that things were not right but lacked the courage to pull through. He didn't have the courage to defect with the others to APC because he didn't want to give up the privileges of being in the ruling party. If he had moved, he would have won his Senatorial election and have his name in Gold as one of the fighters for democracy in Nigeria. Now he has lost it all. People like him cannot serve as role models to younger people

Have never valued this man's word but at this junction he has spoken nothing but the truth. We lost but its not the end of the world but the beginning of a new PDP with a new ideology and core values, we must find victory in our defeat particularly now that the weeds have been thrashed out (defectors), we must show all nigerians that we respect the will of the people and will respect the new president and fight back to produce a better vision, we have a respected exemplary leader who has showed the way. God bless the new PDP, God bless Nigeria

Re: Refusal To Respect Single-term Agreement Caused Pdp’s Defeat – Gov. Aliyu by Gbawe: 7:02pm On Apr 17, 2015
Aliyu should learn to respect himself and shut up. Had him and others showed the bravery to stare Jonathan down and prevented him from imposing himself on the PDP as "unchallenged Presidential candidate" ,via turning the "biggest Party in Africa" into a one-man show, then the PDP would not have been wiped out as is now the case.

Aliyu, Lamido, Yuguda et al should lick their wounds, count their losses and blame themselves. They failed to fight Jonathan and kept accepting his 'sweeteners' and/or bullying to then be "endorsing" him at every stage, like cowards who could not do what they knew they had to do, while Kwankwaso, Ameachi took GEJ on and stood their ground. Who is laughing today? Aliyu please spare us. You and others, through your cowardice, are the architects of your own downfall.
