Icon4s:

Excuses of brutality. Did they play against men?

This 1-1 draw is an early pointer that all is nt well with that Team.

Simple.

I wouldn't go that far, this was their first match under a new coach. The more they play trust and chemistry will grow.

2016 Olympics: Super Falcons will not benefit from E/Guinea fraud

Equatorial Guinea will not compete in the preliminary competition of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament 2020 following a decision taken by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

The Disciplinary Committee held the Equatorial Guinea Football Association liable for the use of forged or falsified documents during several matches of the preliminary competition of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament 2016 which may also include the third round qualifiers against Nigeria.

More precisely, FIFA found evidence of the use of two passports with different dates of birth for the player Camila Maria do Carmo Nobre de Oliveira. Two birth certificates containing divergent information regarding the player’s parental filiation were also provided.

In addition to the expulsion from the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament 2020, the Equatorial Guinea FA was sanctioned with a fine of CHF 40,000, a reprimand and a warning, on the basis of art. 61 par. 4 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC). The player was sanctioned with a ten-match suspension, to be served in the next matches of the representative team of Equatorial Guinea for which she would be eligible, as well as a fine of CHF 2,000, a reprimand and a warning, on the basis of art. 61 paras 1 and 2 of the FDC.
The decisions of the Disciplinary Committee were duly notified today.

Further investigations related to the eligibility of several other players are currently ongoing.

shocked shocked shocked shocked

The sensible decision FIFA should take, in the interest of its much vaunted fair play, is to call for a 3-team round robin tournament between Congo, Nigeria, and South Africa to take EQ's slot. Equatorial Guinea 'eliminated' Congo and Nigeria in the earlier rounds, before losing to South Africa.

Surely, Congo and Nigeria were victims of EQ's cheating, and should be given another chance to qualify for the Olympics. I'd suggest the 3-team tourney take place in a neutral venue; or be played on a home-and-away basis between May and June.

AWCON: Omagbemi Confident Falcons Will Beat Senegal In Abuja

By Johnny Edward:
Super Falcons coach Florence Omagbemi is confident her team will see off the Terenga Lionesses of Senegal in the second leg of theirAfrica Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja, Comple tesportsnigeria.com reports.

Omagbemi was pleased with the 1-1 draw in Dakar and is banking on the home support inAbuja to see off the Senegalese to qualify for Nigeria's tenth appearance at the tournament in Cameroon.

“It was a very physical game and technically, I think the fans are satisfied with what they saw," Omagbemi told the official CAF website.

"It was a game between two good teams, and we had several chances in the first half. We managed to get a draw and we will goback to Abuja to complete what we started. Our goal is to go to Cameroon and defend our title, and that means a good performance in the return leg.”

In Dakar on Friday, the Nigerians went up just before the break through substitute Chioma Wogu but the hosts rallied back through BintaDiakhate five minutes after the break.

The return leg will take place at the National Stadium Complex, Abuja on Tuesday with the winners to qualify forthe 2016 AWCON.

AWC: Omagbemi bullish as Falcons ambush Lionesses in Abuja

BY MONICA IHEAKAM

AHEAD of today’s make or mar 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nation showdown between Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal, head coach, Florence Omagbemi is unfazed that the visitors will pose any threat to the African Champions.

Falcons as defending champions, were set to eliminate the Lionesses in Abuja and book their passage to the AWCN after the 1-1 draw in the first leg held in Dakar four days ago.

Boosting of a formidable squad, Omagbemi said the result recorded in Dakar last Friday did not in any way pose as a set back to her team’s quest to gun for a 10th African Women Championship diadem in Cameroon, insisting that Falcons have the players to lift Nigeria.

“Our objective was to get a win in Dakar, but it didn’t happen. Now, we have no choice but to do the business here on our own ground.

“There is nothing to fear. We have the players to lift Nigeria to victory.”Omagbemi assured.

Meanwhile, the Con-federation of African Football had appointed Zalikatou Traore Diallo from Guinea as the match commissioner, with Veronique Ike Ngomba from Congo as the centre referee. Another Congolese, Julie Kyabuta Kanyembo would be the first assistant, while Sacle Marthe Sakobo is the second assistant referee, while Gabonese official Patricia Obiang Obone, who was slated to be the re- serve referee, had been replaced by Nigerian official, Foluso Ajayi.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi welcomed the officials to the match coordination meeting at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, assisted by the Acting Director of Competitions, Mr. Bola Oyeyode and the Assistant Director (Communications), Mr. Ademola Olajire.

Nigeria is the defending champions after the country won her ninth championship in Namibia two years ago.The overall winners of this tie will qualify for the 2016 AWC to be hosted by Cameroon in November.

AWCON qualifier: Super Falcons promise to do Nigeria proud against Senegal

The Super Falcons have promised to do Nigeria proud on Tuesday when they take on Senegal in the return leg of the qualifier for the 2016 African Women Cup of Nations.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja, Remi Sulola, the Media Officer of the team, urged Nigerian have confidence in them.

Sully said: “We were in training yesterday evening and the coaches worked with all the departments – defence, midfield and attack.

“And I believe defence-wise, we are good because in Dakar the defence was a tight one and the goal our opponent scored was a normal one.

“But our defence was okay and midfield too.

“We were good going forward too, but after the girls saw that one of them was injured, they started playing cautiously.

“They realised that because the referee was not cautioning the Senegalese players for their rough tackles, they needed to be careful so that they can play tomorrow’s game.

“The team is not under pressure to perform, but the girls have promised Nigerians that they will do us proud playing at home and they will give Nigerians the victory they deserve.”

Sulola alleged that the Falcons’ 1-1 draw with Senegal in Dakar on Friday was the outcome of poor officiating, but expressed optimism of the team’s readiness to win the game in Nigeria.

She said: “The girls are prepared.
“They are looking forward to tomorrow’s match and they believe that it is going to be a different ball game from what happened in Dakar on Friday.

“They believe in officiating with fairness.
“I am speaking this way not because I am a Nigerian or the media person of the Falcons, but the officiating (in Senegal) happened to have been one of the worst I have seen in this profession so far.

“No single card was issued.
“One of our players was injured and the referee did not show any sign that she was in control of the game.

“There were clear tackles that the referee should have cautioned the Senegalese player for, but she did not do that.

“It was a shame in Dakar.
“So we believe that it is going to be a different one tomorrow.”

I will not be surprised if the NFF disciplinary committee fail to lodge an appeal to CAF for Disciplinary sanctions.

You can't just overlook every serious issue in the name of 'Big Brother Africa'

These smaller African nations should start respecting us. Haba abi na Wrestling?

Oparanozie bounces back from Senegal injury scare

The Super Falcons striker was left with a gash and stitches on her face after Friday’s game with the Terenga Lionesses in Dakar
Nigeria Women striker Desire Oparanozie is up and about after suffering an eye injury that required stitches against Senegal in Friday’s Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifier in Dakar that ended 1-1.

In a post on her Instagram page, the EA Guingamp forward complained about the incident which went without punishment of the culprit by centre referee, Moroccan Lamyaa Lourarhi.

After the injury was stitched up, Oparanozie was able to go out and posted a picture of herself returning from church with a Bible in hand.

A few more inches and the striker could have lost the use of her eye considering the size of the gash.

She claimed that an unnamed Senegalese player kicked at her with boot studs without getting punished.

The Super Falcons returned to Abuja at the weekend and are in preparation for Tuesday’s return leg against the Lionesses at the Abuja National Stadium at 4pm.

The winner will qualifier for the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Kenya really did well to achieve a maiden qualification to the tourney.

I think the top 2 seeds for the AWCON would be Cameroon and Nigeria.

Super Falcons Beat Senegal, Qualify For AWCON

By James Agberebi:
Nigeria's Super Falcons have qualified for this year's Africa Women's Cup of Nations holding in Cameroon.

The Falcons defeated Senegal 2-0 in the return leg of the AWCON qualifier on Tuesday at the Abuja National Stadium.

With the win, they qualify 3-1 on aggregate, after playing 1-1 in the first leg last week Friday.

Rita Chikwelu opened the scoring for the Falcons after she found the back of the net in the 36th minute.

One minute into the second half, Osarenoma Igbinovia doubled the Falcons' lead.

Prior to Chikwelu's opener, Asisat Oshoala missed from the penalty spot in the 30th minute, crashing her effort against the cross bar.

And in the 50th minute, the Senegalese coach Bassouare Diaby was sent off for improper conduct.

The reigning African champions have now qualified for their 10th AWCON since the maiden edition in 1998 in Nigeria.
