Exactly what Alabi Isama said

A bloody Coward. angry

I just taya oh!

Seems the only place southwesterners are able to make a name for themselves in the army is as commanding officers after rising through the ranks through politicking
It is hard and rare for you to find a yoruba soldier attaining cult hero status among the rank and file for sheer grit, bravery, daredevilishness and ability to inspire others.

Adekunle made Biafrans pee in their pants, you don't get that through politicking.

He was only about 27 when he was trying to dislodge the Biafrans. I'm sure he made some mistakes but he was a damn good soldier.

All these Adekunle's talk any time Ojukwu is brought up; Adekunle was never at the same level as Ojukwu. You should compare Adekunle with Ojukwu's commanders, like Achuzia. As for Adekunle's performance, he began his operation OAU (Owerri, Aba, Umuahia) with 35,000 soldiers. A short time into the operation, 23,000 of the soldiers had been killed by the Biafrans. From that point onwards, Adenkunle behaved erratically, for which reason he was replaced with Obasanjo. He later attributed his erratic behavior to war fatigue. The total number of Baifran soldiers that faced Adekunle was not up to 5,000 and they were very poorly armed compared to Adekunle's soldiers; yet, they so killed Adekunle's soldiers that Adekunle became became deranged.

Thank you my friend, records never lie, but for fate and doggedly loyal subordinates, my uncle would have been among the faceless multitude of adekunle's human sacrifice to the biafrans, when lousy yoruba noisemakers start mouthing adekunle this black scorpion that it irritates me to the marrow, many of these fools have never seen a weapon shot in fear or desperation, they don't know how energy sapping a gruelling military campaign is, they don't know how demoralising the belief whether rightly or wrongly that your commanding officers loyalty isn't certain or that his troops which constitute you and your mates are just mere figures and numbers to him.......but they read books written by partisan military officers loyal to their own and if the person is from their tribe, they conclude foolishly that he was the greatest military genius that ever lived forgetting that in the military, genius status is only revealed and confirmed when you fight and win against great odds, the odds were never against adekunle, but he blundered through his campaign like a half drunk half mad witless dunce.

Another military general comes to mind when you talk about mass assaults and that is grant who fought on the side of the yanks during the american civil war, difference with him was he made it clear from the moment he assumed command that his victories were going to be won at the cost of his troops lives and people understood what to expect and even his troops didn't begrudge him their lives seeing as they willingly fought and died for him without retreating, same can not be said of adekunle before somebody starts drawing erroneous historical similarities here between adekunle, grant, kruschyev and others

Mistakes that cost 25,000 lives in less than a year without much territorial gain to account for this waste?

And my uncle was only 19 when he started fighting for him as a Sargent so Please tell me, what sane military or nation would condone or forgive that this century?

ojukwu , the greatest hero that has ever come out of Nigeria. the bravest, wisest colonel Nigeria has ever had. the people that conveniently forget the genocide that led to the Biafra war and blame it all on Ojukwu, are the most retarrded cowards who can't even fight for themselves. Even in death, Ojukwu still give them sleepless nights. that shows the supremacy of Ojukwu over all you losers

some people think and continue to say it was cowardly of Ojukwu to have escaped after the war.

Look at it this way. You are the LEADER during a war. A war that was embarked on in the first place because the government of the day did not pay attention to the genocide of a group of people happening in the northern part of the country.

The war is over. You as the Leader know that the government would not touch any of your people, BUT you as the Leader would not go scot free- especially one who had held them off and given as much as he got in physical battle for good 3 years.

In a country like ours, it would not have come as a surprise if we heard he had been killed in prison or tortured without any avenue for dialogue.

When you know these, would you stay on ground and wait for it OR would you go to another country till things have calmed down?

He stayed in another country and came back after rife tempers had calmed down(anger is short madness, one can blindly act in moments of anger without rational thinking) and everyone had seen where they contributed to provoking a war.

War is NEVER a good thing, and may Nigeria NEVER experience that again. We MUST never pay deaf ears when people are oppressed. How can the leader of a country be told, "My people are the targets of genocide in the North" and you act like nothing is happening? Over and over you were asked to do something, but your response was slow and you preferred to take all the time in the world while people were dying every second? Which people would see that and not snap/react? ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS GOVERNMENT ACTS LIKE IT CAN'T PROTECT THEM? You would only invite people to defend themselves, and sadly that's what played out.

It was good he went away. If anything had happened to him, it might have been another story- especially when he might not have been granted dialogue.

Normally it should have been, "Nigerians are being killed in the north". But we all know this is a country with 3 major ethnic groups. Yes, we should all see ourselves as Nigerians, but what do you say when a major ethnic group decides to kill another major ethnic group without any form of provocation? And even if you were provoked, as a sane individual who is not mentally unstable, shouldn't your grievances have been brought to the table first? Why attack people just because you feel like it? Are we HUMAN/ANIMALS?

The Northern part of the country should respect the Igbos. A people capable of tolerance do not mean they are foolish.

EVERY ETHNIC GROUP MUST RESPECT THE OTHER, and THAT INCLUDES ETHNIC BIGOTRY.

NIGERIANS PLEASE DO AWAY WITH BIGOTRY. IT IS NOT GOOD. IT REDUCES US AS HUMANS.

WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS FIRST, CREATED BY GOD. We must treat one another as one.

NO HATE MONGER WILL MAKE IT TO HEAVEN, be you a Christian or muslim. You can't hate your neighbour and the next second you are praising God and acting holy. You only deceive your own self, not God.
do you mind those hate drunk igbophobes. only retardss will disagree with you. his choice to flee was the wisest choice anybody can make in that situation.
