I'm learning Photoshop. I'm wondering what technique they used in Photoshop to arrive at this picture. You will notice that the edges of picture is much darker, and the middle is much lighter. Please can a Photoshop guru explain to how they did it. Is it a plugin they used, or what features in Photoshop did they use?

That is called a Vignette.

No need of plugins. It can be created in so many ways depending on the one you find easy to do.

The simplest method to me is by creating a circular mask using an "elliptical marque tool" on the image.
"Invert" the selection.
Feather it out so much.
Then darken the selected area.

FINISH.wink

It can also be achieved using a lens correction filter or by simply creating a Radial Gradient. etc etc.

Cheers.

I'm sorry. How do you mean?

A rounded brush tool will do it. Simply reduce the hardness by dragging the slider to the left (say a bit beyond halfway). Choose black as color and simply paint the sides of the photo. Paint, undo, repeat until you are satisfied.
