Vaginal birth/ Caesarean session, which do you prefer?!
Maternal mortality refers to death of a pregnant woman due to pregnancy related issues while Neonatal mortality refers to the death of a child between the first 28days after delivery...

Let's note these:

-Every single day, Nigeria loses 145 women during childbirth

-Every 10minutes, one woman dies on account of pregnancy or childbirth, that is, 53, 000/ year

-528 Nigerian babies die per day

-Lastly, women's chance of dying from pregnancy and childbirth in Nigeria is 1 in 13

What really are the causes of these deaths u might be wondering...we have several factors responsible for these deaths which are:
-Medical factors;
**A lot of women develop High Blood Pressure during pregnancy
period
**some women who are healthy get diagnosed of diabetes, don't be surprised, it's called Gestational Diabetes...this isn't common to all women tho'
**incompetence amongst medical personnels is not out of question too
-Religious factors:
So many men of God (M.O.G) have become midwives all of a sudden! A lot of pregnant women run to churches, pastors, prayer houses in the name of safe delivery, a lot of pastors go as far as trampling upon a pregnant woman's baby bump in the name of prayers, others have established what they call 'faith tabernacle, saying that all prayers will be answered there. There's no magic to it, the pastor is not licensed and not a doctor...finally, when the matter gets out of hand, they'll take hospitals as their last resort, eventually the baby dies, they'll blame the doctors. There's nothing like religious childbirth, we only have vaginal birth, assisted delivery and lastly caesarean session (CS)
-Social-cultural factors:
Many societies do not encourage CS, say it is an abomination, this makes it difficult for women who are too weak to push, their husbands still insist on vaginal birth. Also gender inequality among societies contribute to these death, a lot of pregnant women are made to do odd jobs like working on the farm under intense heat, e.t.c
-Barriers to utilisation of available health services:
In summary, this is as a result of poverty and poor road network
-poor care: this factor revolves around illiteracy, poverty ain't left out tho'! Men give your wives optimum care during gestation period, gather all money necessary, no wonder God gave us 9months notice...
-Value/self esteem:
A lot of ladies don't want to be seen as 'inferior' they don't want to go thru' CS even when its obvious they can't go thru' vaginal delivery.

Insisting on vaginal delivery, even when u can't push, does it backfire??!
Oh yes!!! It does backfire...it leads to still birth a times, sometimes, loss of single or both lives

Any solution??! Gladly, there are...
**Acceptance and accessing available obstetric care: couples, allow medical experts do their work, they know what's best for you!
**Cultural re-orientation
**Religious re-orientation
**Good planning!!!

Everyone should encourage CS if your wife is too weak to push, it's safer, faster and less painful, your life and your baby's life is more important than societal values! Also, I generally advice women to follow CS due to vaginal enlargement; imagine a woman giving birth to a baby of about 3.5kg, do you still think your hole will be tight??! lmao...
God also performed the first CS when he created Eve from Adam! UNICEF says, no woman must die while giving life, the baby needs a mother...
Therefore fellow Nigerians,to become better citizens and to breed a gestationally healthy nation, the onus falls on us to educate others...
#peace

If you try me, I shall rubbish this thread.

Now who's acting like a kid? U have all the knowledge and wisdom and I am wishing u the best and u re saying grow up. With all your wisdom, you should recommend CS for your wife. Nonsense!

If i got married today, and my wife is liable to having complications or fear of childbirth pain, i would go for CS.
I honestly dont see anything bad in it. What is RELIGIOUS BIRTH? fvck it!! I CANNOT STAKE MY WIFE'S LIFE. If up to me, i would use CS even without complications, cos i shudder at the idea of my wife having pains while giving birth to OUR child(ren). CS all the way.

There is a statement u made that made me reply you. I wil quote it for u:

Also, I generally advice women to follow CS due to vaginal enlargement; imagine a woman giving birth to a baby of about 3.5kg, do you still think your hole will be tight??!

Since vigina enlargement is a major concern I advice you should recommend it for ur wife. In so doing, her vj stays tight for u always.

CS is a last resort! In advance countries suction is used to aid the woman before even considering CS. And do you know that after a 3rd CS doctors recommend that a woman shouldn't get pregnant again? That she might die if she do get pregnant?

I was born thru CS and I watched my mom almost die when she gave birth to our last born thru CS. Even if everything goes right, what about the pain of unstiching and the wounds that last for over a month.

My bro, its a means when all else fails and people still die after CS!

Its not a question of which is more beneficial, but what is appropriate ( recommended) for your individual situation.

If you are referring to elective procedures, that's different. Ie do nlers prefer cs or vaginal delivery, in the absence of contraindications for either. Meaning if there are no problems indicated with either method, which would they prefer.

There are several indications for having a CS, and the idea that a woman becomes too weak too push is just one of several reasons. The term too weak too push though, sounds somehow undecided
