Who told u that igbo are descendants of jew, u can't come here spewing rubbish here, am 100% sure that u are not most successful tribe in West Africa (yoruba).... All this u are saying cant give u a plot of land in ajegunle or alaba market, u better save ur bytes if u don't have sensible thing to create, leave igbo alone with their rubbish rants.. They want to claim every land, they claim Lagos as no man land,Abuja also, now they are claiming south Africa as no man's land, very soon they will claim the whole of Africa and Europe later on

The reason for creating this thread is not to promote a tribe above any other but to put some rants to test. I am a proud Nigerian as I am proud of my tribe. That does not mean I am better than Chinedu nor Aminu. We all are good at something and collectively we can build a Nigeria we can all be proud of. I have keenly read a lot of topics and comments on this forum of which my Igbo friends believe they are better than others. I reject this. No tribe is better than the other. The Northerners, as poor as we think they are, produce virtually everything we eat in this country. They are not useless. They are contributing to Nigeria. We just need to do more and compliment each others strength

All what you said in your op is hogwash as you have not provided any empirical evidence to back your points up but I know for sure that Igbos are more successful academically than your sorry ass

Yorubas excessive obsession with everything Igbo will kill that tribe.

As for you Op, hustle well make some money and look for a lovely Igbo woman to love very well and see if she would let you marry her. That way you would have saved yourself from losing your head over this much love you have for us.

On behalf of all Igbos, I want to tell you that you're loved.

Tittos:
#1, igbos share some cultural similarities with the jews. That doesnt mean they are jewish people. Have u heard of the myth of Eri landing in Nri.. Btw, lets face it. The yoruba version of how they became is also a myth.if you are a christian, muslim or atheist then you should regard all the other creation version(yoruba included) as myth..
#2 like you said, success can be defined in many ways and is quite subjective. So you cant say its a myth for any tribe to say they are the most successful. Yorubas and even hausas can make that claim. Btw, success of a group of persons isnt how much their richest is worth. It could be the number of reach people they got. Eg a tribe can have 3 billionairs, 20 millionares and the other will have no billionaire but 50 millionaires. Its all subjective.btw, i think.Soyinka is.more successful than Adenuga even though the later is richer
#3 first of all check the margin that Ambode won with. Its a pretty thin margin. Also keep in mind that some igbos still voted for him and some Yorubas actually voted for JK. couple this with the fact that there was a low voters turn out and the issue of low pvc distribution. You would have to agree that the issue of igbo's number in Lagos cant be decided using election as a yardstick. So going by the definition of a myth, you cant call this a myth because they is no evidence to prove or disprove that notion. Btw i also do not support the notion
#4 since Biafra has not been created nor tried out, you cant call that a myth. No one knows if Igbos would fare better or not. Biafra as being pushed by massob compromises of five eastern states and not the SS states. Dont also forget that Abia, Imo and Anambra has oil. Dont also forget that many nations are better off than Nigeria even though they dont have oil. So oil resources cant be a yardstick for measuring success or would be success of a Nation..

A myth is defined as a cultural believe or believes that has been proven not to be true.
The truth is you are the one with the myth that all igbos or igbos in general hold those four views. The only myth heree is the one in the topic heading

mature reply..not like some people her...just raining insults..its not by force to talk,if you don't have anything reasonalble to say...we are all one!!!

I have warn my Igbos friends...be careful around some yoruba people. Some have innate envy for Igbo people. For a grown man to take out his time to write this hocus pocus tells you this has been bothering and boiling deep inside of him.

Yorubas compete amongst the Igbos and The Igbos compete only amongst themselves. This statement is very telling because there lies the secret behind the success of Igbos...compete solely among themselves. Ugochukwu doesn't care what Akibola is doing because he is confident in himself. On the other hand Akibola wants to know what Ugochukwu is doing because he is not confident in himself and his decision thereby creating this deep seated envy for Ugochukwu.

I am Yoruba and proudly so. I do not see my tribe as better than others. I do not insult the inadequacies of other tribes. I see others irrespective of their background as humans and must be accorded some respect and dignity. I have noticed however, the way my igbo brothers and sisters have really taken this ethno-political war, thinking they are better than others. They have made some points in justifying their superiority to other tribes in the country and I am here to bust some of them.

Myth #1- Igbos are Jewish descendants or are like Jewish people. Comparing themselves with the Jewish people is a joke taking too far. They say they are adventurous as the jewish people. Jewish people became adventurous for a number of reasons, chief among them is that they were forced out of their country and had no choice but to seek refuge in foreign countries. The Igbos were never chased out of their home country. They chose to leave their homeland to other places. To them, the grass is always green at the other side. Secondly, The Jewish people practiced monotheism and we all know that just like any other African society, the Igbos have many deities they worshiped. Thirdly, The Jewish people speak Hebrew from the Afroasiatic language family while the Igbo is from Niger-Congo language family like Ashanti, Yoruba, etc. I have tried many times to find any similarities between the two groups but I have not found any. They may be adventurous more than any other tribes in country, but so are the Lebanese, the Syrians, Jews and the chinese. These other groups do not feel they are better than others. It is simple logic that you tend to do better when you are not in your comfort zone. Nigeriansare rated as one of the most educated ethnic groups in the US. They just have to make use of the opportunities they have because that is the only way to survive. So Igbos doing well in the West, North and even outside the country is just simple mathematics.

Myth #2- Igbos are the most successful tribe in the country. We can define success in so many ways. I want to assume that what they mean by success is the richest. I am going to come to that. The NBS in its reports revealed that Northwest has the highest number of poor people in Nigeria-71.4% while Southwest has the least-49.8%. South-east has 59.5% below the poverty line. Talking about the richest, I will use the most reliable source for this. There are 12 Nigerians on the list of Africa's richest by Forbes Magazine. Three northerners- Dangote, Rabiu and Danjuma; Three easterners- Kalu, Elumelu and Ovia; Five westerners-Adenuga, Alakija, Otedola, folawiyo and Otudeko. Osagie is also on the list but not so sure of where he is from. What my friends fail to understand is that we all compliment each other. That you are best known for something does not mean others do not have their strength too. They are not the most successful, They are part of our success stories so also our failings as a nation.

Myth #3- 50 percent of people living in Lagos are Igbos. There is no reliable stats to prove or disprove this assertion. The last governorship election in the state has however provided us with some clues. Judging by the voting pattern in Lagos, areas mostly dominated by the Igbos voted for PDP. We expect that if they are up to 50 percent, while other tribes- Yorubas, Edos, Efik, etc PDP should have won the election.

Myth #4- Biafra is the Solution to their problems. According to them, the rest of the country is holding them down. If they have Biafra today, the sky will be their beginning. South Eastern States today, just like most states in the country rely on Federal Allocation. Biafra will still have to bank on the probability that south-south will join them as well. Segregation is not your solution, a country where equity and justice are held sacrosanct is your solution. Today South Sudan are faced with the same problem they had when they were with Sudan.

Your thoughts, insults, criticism are most welcome.

The fact that you took the time to research this shows how tribalised you are yourself. I can show you a thousand and one tribes or ethnic groups (including the Yorubas)who feel they are better than others in this world today. Show me a thousand tribalised Igbo people and I will equally show you a thousand tribalised Yorubas. Show me a hundred de-tribalised Yorubas and I will point out to you an equal amount of de-tribalised Igbos. So you start your obviously biased write up by trying to give the impression that Yorubas are not tribalistic, giving yourself as an example, while Igbos are tribalistic, giving a so called brothers and sisters as examples. You spend more time worrying about the tribalists amongst the Igbos than you do about the ones in your midst, that really shows how de-tribalised you are? Rubbish.

I naturally ignore tribal rants and arguments by most of these guys on NL, but I just had to come in here for you cause unlike these guys, who come out straight with their stance, you are simply a pretender and a hypocrite. I hate hypocrites far more than any kind in this world.

OP why keep a blind eye to the statements and insults of your people then fault only that of Igbos? Stop being biased, else quit creating unproductive and clueless threads like this.

If you weren't biased, you'd have noticed that your people are not different from the Igbos you're criticizing because they are also chest beaters like the Igbos you are talking about.

If you truly wanna be objective, unbiased and reasonable, you'd have created this useless thread as a Nigerian thing/problem and wouldn't have taken it along tribal lines.
