I always will rep Nigeria of course but I feel Ghana, Ivory coast and morocco was pretty to but I felt the picture for Nigeria was good but I have seen much better as far as I concerned when it comes to repping Nigeria, also number 1 which was south africa mentioned the tribe that traditional attire was from, it would be nice if they did that for Nigeria, cause Nigeria can not be summed up with just one picture

LOL.. See how you edit out the 'Igbos' from the picture. grin

Rubbish from Head to Bottom except Morocco. Some people tried but ended up with woman wrapper. Jeez!!!! Scottish are even trying to invent some better in 21st century while some people still sticked to cave combinations. Surprisingly, Somalians have equally dished woman wrapper to trousers.

WHAT TRADITIONAL WEDDING BEATS YORUBA TRADITIONAL WEDDING IN THE WORLD? NONE.

YORUBAS ARE BORN TO RULE THE WORLD OF FASHION.

CHECK THESE OUT:

The First Two Caps Are Called Eleti Aja(Dog Ears)

While The Other Two Signified The Two Guys As Married Men

If they are still single and searching, the folded part of cap ll be folded forward instead of left hand side as shown in the picture of married men.

Apart from Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Zulu; the rest aren't 100% African.

When did shirts, T-shirt, and suit become African clothes?

Mostly unattractive. undecided
Igbo is 100 percent African. Fashion evolves,it is not static. Even what we call indian and Islamic clothing evolved over the years. Men were tying loin clothes before they could spurn/ weave cotton and before the discovered silk worm.
The authencity is all about making it your own,so that where ever you see it in the world, you will easily identify it.
We should be more concerned on who is producing the materials.

I admire the yoruba traditional attires. They look colourful and magnificient, but i don't think somebody like me will fare well wearing them. They look heavy and too complex for me.
They look cool though.

I like Ivory Coast and Nigeria best....the more non-western or non-arabiian or foreign influence it has, the better for me
I did not know Rwanda was in India lipsrsealed

I would have liked the SA one, but I mad at them still
honestly though...I like everything in the SA attire apart from the hat..which I simply cant deal with

Tying wrappers like Indians i.e over one shoulder has always been a part of African culture esp Igbo. It didn't come to us from india. That is for people that believe Africans were naked before the coming of the white man.

Lies from pit of hell. It has been part of Scottish cultural values which was brought to Nigeria during their missionary sojourn.

The wrapper was invented by Scottish people which remained one of their most cherished cultural heritage but theirs is in checked short skirt while Somalians are similar to Igbo ones in long length.

This is such a beautiful thread, this Saturday morning. It's a bit irresponsible trying to kick up tribal issues.
Yes,Yoruba rock their World.
Igbo rock their world.
Hausa rock their world.
I don't see Igbos or Efiks using aso oke or whatever during traditional occasions. There are certain clothes that represent Eastern women and it's still in vogue. There is so much cultural awareness in the east that people have dumped iro and buba for their own stuffs.

Wrong! Igbo women were tying wrappers long before the white man came. There are traditional weavers in ancient igboland, just like you had weavers in yorubaland. Scottish wrap is not anywhere close to igbo wrapper.
