Ex-employee Sues Bank For N100 Billion by james669: 9:43am On May 18, 2015
For unlawfully suspending indefinitely and terminating his employment, a former employee of First Bank Nigeria Limited, Mr. Tennyson Ikpi has sued the bank for N100 billion. It was gathered that, Mr. Tennyson Ikpi, because of his vast experience and track record in the banking sector, received an offer letter from the First Bank of Nigeria, in August 2012, prompting him to resign his appointment as a branch manager of Keystone bank.

According to the suit, filed by Festus Keyamo Chambers on behalf of its client, Mr. Ikpi received a letter of suspension from First Bank of Nigeria Ltd on ground of an unfounded allegation against him on the pages of some Newspapers by an individual who had a personal acrimony with him over a court case. First Bank of Nigeria terminated his employment, a decision he strongly believes violates his constitutional right to fair hearing.

I hope he wins the suit cause the rate at which banks sack people these days is becoming alarming.

We have to wait To hear the full story. If he defrauded someone and the guy wrote to his present employer with proof, then the law will not protect him from facing Justice. I expect the bank to get an order suspending the case pending the determination of the charges against the plaintiff. But if he was unduly sacked without due process, then the bank is in trouble, they'll probably have to settle him millions out of court and learn to follow due process.

My comment is in the interest of justice and fairness...

We actually live in a country where you wake up and hear another news. Banks has continually infringe on human rights and most has gone scot free.even though i bank with them,at least the man deserves a right to fair hearing so as to ascertain in full terms the problems he has been facing.

Nigerians with their myopic way of thinking. how is he greedy?

We all know two things will happen in this law suit. Its either he wins or lose. If he wins or has a case, the bank might try to settle out of court. He cant get all that money, we know that but a substancial some will enter his account. cool

Being self employed is the best, you are your own boss.
No boss can sack you or suspend you indefinitely..
