Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has faulted a claim by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana, that he (Fayose) was providing cover for armed gangs to operate in the state, saying such comment is “ridiculous and nonsensical.”
Falana, while reacting to Fayose’s ‘Save Our Soul’ message to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, in a statement on Sunday, had blamed the governor for the increasing wave of kidnapping in the state, saying armed thugs had been given immunity by the impunity in the state.
He cited the example that the armed thugs had, in connivance with state government, occupied and shut the House of Assembly since November 2014.
But the governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti on Monday, wondered why the Lagos-based lawyer would always keep silent whenever All Progressives Congress-controlled States are involved.
He asked, “Is this not hypocrisy? And Falana did not find it important to ask those All Progressives Congress-controlled states what they have done with their workers’ salaries if truly he is a human rights activist as he claims to be.
“Hypocrisy has made Falana not to say a word on the collapse of the judiciary and the legislative arms of government in some APC controlled States. Or is the judiciary in Rivers State working? And has Falana said a single word on the collapse of the judiciary in Rivers State?”
While urging Falana to live up to the meaning of his name by minding his own business, Fayose wondered why the lawyer would be pretentious about some issues and acted to be a defender in others not involving his friends and paymasters.
“Falana should be ignored because he is fond of beating about the bush and his utterances are always dictated by the percentage of stomach infrastructure from his paymasters.
“I have never and will never provide official cover for armed gangs. It is only a governor or leader that is not popular or loved by his people that would adopt such unconventional means to rule,” he said.

This guy spoke some salient truth about Falana should focus on his human right crusade campaign and balance both side of the coin while criticising him..... He should also extend the favour to all those APC and PDP governor that still owe their workers their entitlement and salary

but, since the kidnapping did happen mostly in his state...... this will give rise to be suspicious of what is really happening in a state like Ekiti which has being turn to a kidnapping heaven

.I can't see any reply from fayose.Fayose is it true that you empowered armed thugs in ekiti before and during d just concluded elections?and that you are currently finding it difficult to both control your boys and recover the arms you gave them?Fayose should respond to d questions above,and d allegations leveled against him by falana,instead of issuing dis crap of a statement as a reply.FALANA is from ekiti state and as such he has every right to demand accountability from his governor.What is d relationship between d current rampant kidnappings and other violent crimes in ekiti with closure of courts in Rivers? or is fayose now an indigene of Rivers state?

Fayose should just keep shut if he has nothing sensible to say. He should be held solely responsible for the current wave of kidnapping rocking Ekiti state. He used this miscreants to win Elections and also intimidate members of the state house of assembly. It's payback time now. The boys helped to install the governor and now, they want to terrorise Ekiti in return. After all, the governor is in their pocket.

Buhari administration will have a lot of Nigerians with dysfunctional system in his priority. Our psychiatric facility need to be expanded to accommodate among us who have suffered the consequence of wrong leadership. As we are building prisons for the thieves please endeavor to do same for those with brain defaults. these contribute majorly to nation building and economy development.

Ekiti Indigenes’ Will Go On Exile For Fayose – Falana

Falana, who is an indigene of the state, said, “It is clear that the people have been taken back to the era of state-sponsored terrorism.



LAGOS lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, has said that some indigenes of Ekiti State are planning to go on exile as soon as the governor-elect of the state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, assumes office.

Fayose, who won the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti, will be sworn in on October 16.

Already, rival drivers’ unions and urchins are unleashing mayhem on innocent people, including judges and judiciary workers.

“Fayose should be advised not to frustrate his own inauguration. With the ongoing political crisis, some development agencies have decided to pull out of the state.
“I know industrialists who have decided to relocate to neighbouring states. I have some friends who have resolved to go on exile from Ekiti State for the next four years.

“The exodus of business and the elite will have adverse effect on the fragile economy of the state because no investor takes funds to any place where the rule of law is in abeyance.”

Asked if the people of the state had made a mistake in electing Fayose as their governor, Falana said the wishes of the people must be respected.

“The Ekiti people are perfectly entitled to elect whoever they like to govern them. That is what bourgeois democracy is all about. Up till now, the world is still paying for the decision of the American people to elect George Bush Jr. I believe that the wishes of the Ekiti electorate should be respected,” he said.

“However, Fayose owes himself a duty to turn away from violence because no leader can govern in an atmosphere of anarchy and chaos. He has to embrace the rule of law,” Falana added.

Reacting to Falana’s claims, a media aide to the governor-elect, Lere Olayinka, said the Ekiti people had made their choice and that “Falana, as a lawyer, should know that he does not have more stake in Ekiti than the over 200,000 Ekiti people, who expressed their preference for Fayose with their votes on June 21.”

Olayinka said, “Ekiti people have spoken loudly with their votes and if the likes of Falana does not like the decision the people have made, they can relocate to wherever they so desire.

“As for Fayose, he will remain committed to the welfare of the teachers, local government workers, civil servants, health workers, okada riders, artisans, market men and women, students and others who gave him their votes on June 21, not minding the anger of the likes of Falana, who believe that Ekiti people cannot choose their own governor.”

So much for Human Right Activism and Social Crusading.

What we have in Nigeria are Intellectuals with one form of personal, political and regional interest hidden in the cover of secularism and humanity.

I remember how Falana diverted a question thrown at Nuhu Ribadu on how he intends to finance his Presidential ambition having indicted most of his new found companions.

We are learning and are being taught that Politics should be analysed based on prevailing circumstances and permutations as it lacks every element of Mathematical Sciences where we have algorithms, formulae and logic to apply.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Fayose should face the job of governance and investigate the incessant kidnappings in Ekiti.

On the other hand, Falana is becoming too partisan and the last time I watched his interview on Channelstv, he was Pro-APC which isn't good for a Human Right Lawyer.

Some silent truths though undecided

The judiciary in Rivers state has been in limbo the past 12 months and people like Falana & Soyinka have not said or done anything about it.
A little balance will not hurt.

I had mentioned this in a different post. Anybody taking Falana serious is the most gullible of the human specie. The man is over compromised. You don't need to be too smart to know he is a machinery of some political movements. You can hate Fayose, but tell me he has not made valid points. Last week, I listened to Falana's interview on Chanels. He found it difficult to agree that there is serious corruption in the judiciary, instead, as usually expected, he blamed the president for the corruption in the judiciary. I ask again, if a judge/justice cannot in his honour pass a fair judgement despite interferences from any quarter, he should blame his spinlessness and not always point fingers.
Fanala has perforated his tongue by eating the evil meal. His words therefore lack weight. He keeps imitating Gani Fayemi, who was pure, just and a true humanist. He cannot be like Gani, and now that his party is in power, that ends his career in human right activism.

Femi Falana is more than an hypocrite. He supported the illegal impeachment of Fayose in 2006 even when the NJC, NBA and Gani condemned it. He is even in support of charade by APc legislators in the name of impeachment process. Falana is not an activist. He's APC front to use his worthless name in distabilising Fayose.
