Businessman and Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, on Monday failed to appear in court in the suit opposing the alleged plot to abduct him and extradite him to the United States to face a contentious drug-related charges.
Kashamu has locked himself up in his Lekki Phase 1, Lagos mansion since Saturday when operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency stormed his house to arrest him to fulfill a request by the US government for the extradition of the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain to face charges in connection with a 1994 drug case.
The NDLEA, in a statement on Monday by its Head, Public Affairs, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the house of the businessman and politician, who recently won an election to the Senate to represent Ogun East, had been condoned off until his appearance in court.
Ofoyeju said, “The agency is working hard to ensure that he submits himself to the due process of the law. His house remains cordoned off by anti-narcotic officers pending his appearance in court.
“The extradition move by the NDLEA for Kashamu to answer drug trafficking charges is legal. The agency has not violated his rights and will continue to work within the confines of the law. He has been assured that due process of the law shall be adhered to at every stage.
“NDLEA is the appropriate government agency to implement his extradition request and will diligently pursue the processes to a logical conclusion.
“It is expected that Kashamu will willingly submit himself to the laws of the country under which he seeks to serve as a Senator.

What is he really afraid of? if he doesn't want to go to the US for trial, He should at least go to a Nigerian court to get himself acquited.

If NDLEA are still laying siege on his residence....I think they are doing that in waiting for the warrant to break entry

You still don't get it. Kashamu is not hiding anything. So NDLEA cannot broke into his home. He his wanted on request by the USA. What kashamu is under is house arrest pending when a court grants the request of the USA. Keep in mind it can be appealed. Now before they sought out the Legal brouhaha the guy would be a serving senator. And that's as early as friday and immunity covers him. No how you look at it, this thing slides.

Guys, you all need to understand that senators are not covered by immunity neither does NDLEA needs a warrant to arrest someone if there's a probable cause to do so.
What Kashamu Buruju is waiting for is Wednesday, 27th. He has instituted a case seeking a PERPETUAL INJUNCTION from prosecution and he's most likely to get a favorable judgement because he's alleged in political circle to have that same judge in his pocket, on his payroll. Curiously, all the cases he filed in the past have been assigned to the same judge and he has always got favorable judgements. NDLEA and his political traducers are aware of this and that's why they'll stop at anything to ship him to U. S before Wednesday. On the other hand, if he gets that judgement on Wednesday, he can never be tried again in Nigeria or extradited till he dies!. He has planned to get the judgement before May 29th when GEJ is still in power. So, it'll get more interesting between now and Wednesday as OBJ and others have the last chance to ship Kashamu Buruji to the U. S failure of which he will legally walk freely for life. They all know the game they are playing very well and someone must win!.
If you ask him if it's possible to get perpetual injunction in Nigeria, Peter Odili is enjoying it and he can never be tried for corruption/embezzlement that allegedly happened under his watch as governor even if his well-known enemy becomes Nigeria President.

which law grants a senator immunity in Nigeria.
Is that law the PDP constitution or figment of your imagination.
Re: Kashamu Shuns Court Case, NDLEA Maintains Siege by bakila: 9:25pm On May 25, 2015
The judge will be foolish to grant such a relief without a determination of a substantive issue of law. Stop thinking in the PDP era. The NJC will be watching him, GEJ is useless to the judge after may 27 in this matter. A petition listing all the facts that you have mentioned including phone conversations, bank deposits, properties acquired and holidays spent will finds it way to the NJC.
Google or bing Otunba Kalejiaye SAN to know how far with such trash. This is the change era, shitts have limits.
