2. Nigerian Women Lead In Skin Bleaching.

A study by World Health Organisation (WHO) shows that Nigeria has the world’s highest percentage of women using skin lightening agents in the quest for “beauty”. While a study by the University of Cape Town suggests that one woman in three in South Africa bleaches her skin, it was reported that nearly 8 out of 10 Nigerian women bleach their skin.

The World Health Organization reported that 77% of Nigerian women use skin lightening products on a regular basis. They are followed by Togo with 59%; South Africa with 35%; and Mali at 25%.

Zainab Fashola from Kuddy Cosmetics said: “Lightening creams is the biggest for cosmetics in Nigeria because we could bring in like Jergens or normal body lotions but they always ask, ‘Does it lighten? So if it doesn’t they don’t want to buy it.”

There is a reason why I always disagree with this WHO finding as very untrue because every image of Nigerian female gathering I see in Google search online or anywhere else seem to say otherwise . If you post image of Nigerian women gathering you would find out that in 10 there are 3 light in complexion or less, sometimes they could be mixed race, etc. I still need the evidence that proves how this World Health Organization study was carried out and the criteria they used. I hate people throwing numbers around without any proof. I don't know why Nigerians have to buy into this alleged study yet. If it is way to scare women from using hydroquinone-containing products this is the wrong way to do it. Jeez! angry sad lipsrsealed undecided cry cry cry cry

Not all of cameroon was a part of Naija o... And they weren't really a part of Nigeria, what the Southern Cameroons were, was a trusteeship territory of the British, adminiatered from Nigeria.

TRUE TALK.
xpac01:
The whole issue of Nigerian women and bleaching I've come to find out is majorly as a result of ignorance and compliments.
For example you see an average naija woman goes to cosmetics shop, buys a cream without checking the instruction for use nor the functions, she just break it open and starts using.
After some days, she begins noticing some change in her skin colour then on reaction, she starts paying attention to what people are saying about it. Then all she will be hearing is: "wow! babym!! you are shinning o"! And bum! her head swells, she then consequentially maintains the bleaching rituals. Talking from a scenario gotten round my female classmates.

The most popular movie in Nigeria should be the matrix. Nigerians are happy because ignorance is bliss. They are living in bondage and don't fully understand to what extent.

Accept the bitter truth!
These are what Nigerian ladies do in order to mask out on what they are lagging behind. Pathetic!

You`re right there. But I`have to say that though the cost of cars and what not in the 1970s were cheap, in same way it also reflects on how hard or difficult it is to earn such money used in circulation for acquiring those commodities.
It`s just a two side matter of evolvement/evolution.
I don`t see this as a big deal.

For real I watched a documentary once and Indian women had the highest bleaching rate.

lol, i can see through your cheap trolling in trying to provoke a reaction. NOW NO FAILED STATE HAS THE FOLLOWING :

1) Ability to unseat an incumbent president through a general election.

2) Produce the largest and biggest economy in Africa ($594 billion)

3) has the continent's biggest middle class

4) has the highest concentration of millionaires and billionaires in africa.

5) able to produce the world's 2nd biggest entertainment industry with generators.

ALL AFRICAN COUNTRIES ARE FAILED STATES THEN.

The reason why Nigeria is no1 is because of our population.
Northern Nigeria has the highest population, the women there don't even rub cream talk less bleaching cream.

5. The Cost of a Car And a Plane Ticket in 1975.

In 1975, a brand new car sold for N2,000 while a ticket to London was less than N100.

6. The Yoruba People Of Nigeria Has The Highest Twinning Rate In The World.

The Yoruba present the highest fraternal twinning rate in the world (4.4% of all maternities). They manifest at 45–50 twin sets (or 90–100 twins) per 1,000 live births, possibly because of high consumption of a specific type of yam containing a natural phytoestrogen which may stimulate the ovaries to release an egg from each side. Twins are very important for the Yoruba and they usually tend to give special names to each twin.

The first of the twins to be born is traditionally named Taiyewo or Tayewo, which means ‘the first to taste the world’, or the ‘slave to the second twin’, this is often shortened to Taiwo, Taiye or Taye. Kehinde, or Kenny for short, is the name of the last born twin. Kehinde is sometimes also referred to as Kehindegbegbon which is short for Omokehindegbegbon and means, ‘the child that came last gets the rights of the eldest’.

7. Nigeria Has The Largest Diversity of Butterflies In The World.

The area around Calabar, one of Nigeria’s regional hubs, contains the world’s largest diversity of butterflies. A good way to see them is to tour Cross River National Park, where over 300 species live, including the gorgeous Papilio monachus, the unusual blue Iolaus iasis, and the newly-discovered Tetrahanis okwangwo.

8. Nigerian People Are The Happiest In The World.

A study of more than 65 countries published in the UK’s New Scientist magazine suggests that the happiest people in the world live in Nigeria – and the least happy, in Romania. Nigeria has the highest percentage of happy people followed by Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador and Puerto Rico, while Russia, Armenia and Romania have the fewest.

Nigeria has the worlds happiest, most optimistic and hopeful people! The country is certainly no disneyland as it is constantly ridden with political instability, the present insecurity issue, corrupt leaders etc but hope is what keeps them moving forward.

The survey confirms the old adage that money cannot buy happiness.
beautifully expressed! Wow! True and not tobe ignored facts! Observation well establishe. Agree with you 100% on the most happiest people! Cos we are always suffering and smilinng and at the end of the day, the majority (who are the poor) prayer is GOD DEY!
