Say what you want about President Goodluck Jonathan, there is no doubt he is leaving Nigeria in a shambolic state, but one thing can not be denied, he created a fashion trend for many with his “Etibo Woko” attire, which became the signature style of the commander in chief during his 6 plus years as president.



The attire which is the casual traditional style of dress of Ijaw men, consisting of a long knee length shirt, with a chain from the collar to the breast pocket was made popular by the President, who usually teamed it with black or dark grey trousers and a hat.





It made him look suave in portraits and helped him stand out at international gatherings, where most heads of states showed up in formal suits.
Who can forget last year when actress Kate Henshaw rocked a sexy, feminine version of the outfit made popular by the president.



Her GEJ inspired outfit was created by designer Mai Atafo for his Spring/Summer 2015 collection & immediately became a viral hit, thus making the presidential look mainstream over night.

All of a sudden fashionistas all over the country were rocking the daring look!

Surely anyone that can set fashion trends is a fashion icon?
