This is not really new because phishing attack has been around for a while.

Am just going to share my experience, hope it helps someone. (Refer to the pictures below)
I received a mail from a certain Omonoba Emilia (who I have never heard of) requesting me to confirm some changes in an attached document with no specifics.

This raised my red flags but because I wanted to follow through, I downloaded it only for it to be a web page(I already knew what they were up to).

On opening the attachment(web page), it opened in the web browser(as expected) and popped up a javascript alert informing me that I have been signed out of my account due to a recent browser upgrade. Clicking OK directed me to an exact replica of Gmail's login page(almost no difference at all).

This is where the trick is. If you attempt to login, your login details(username and password) will be sent to these scammers and as you rightly guessed...They would be able to access you account.

So guys...watch out for them, if this sounds familiar, kindly report to Google as phishing attack and change your password immediately
