And the holes cannot be filled without having for instance my N3,000 brushed aluminium or stainless steel sockets in place? smiley
If You're talking about advantages and better ways...i don't see that as one, it only exposes the elect accessories to paint, concrete and possible scratches. In fact the holes are better filled before installation of the acessories so that the filling is thorough, and gets to the very edge of the knockout boxes. The filling and dressing of the area around the knockouts should be done and dusted before we even think about installation. Remember the dimensions of the accessories are larger than that of the knockout boxes so it extends by atleast 5mm beyond the knockouts on all four sides.
Also, what happens when you fill the holes using one socket as a stencil and then you upgrade to something with a smaller foot print?

About the toilet seat, i don't see why your plumber needs to break tiles to do that, pictures like the attached are all over nairaland, you can clearly see the installations were done post tiling. Also, imagine if i had to upgrade from one of the attached toilet seats to the other, how easy do you figure that would be, given your proposed method. And the reservoir .... Why install only to remove and then install again. I don't see the above mentioned approaches as being ideal or better.
You're doing a good job Regardless. God's strength

KolaShangOne:

I understand your point of view as the usual way of doing things.. But we all learn everyday.

There is an advantage.

Twinskenny has said that of the electrical. You can actually fill holes by the sides of your sockets and switches if you install them pre painting. If you fix after painting and there are those little holes, it will look tacky.

For plumbing, after doing your tiling, and you want to install toilet seat, your plumber will have to break the tiles to install, right? Because most glazed Tiles do not have the coarseness to bond with cement used to hold the seat in place.
Install your toilet seat on your German Floor and not even an earthquake will move it. grin

The water reservoir Can be removed n fixed in 1 sec.. We used galvanized pipe to hold it in place. The toilets are not going to be painted (Tiles all round) so there's no danger of paint staining the fittings.

I tire for the guy o! He's only being stubborn to accept his logic isn't the right way to do this. It is a simple logic to do these things after painting but he's too stubborn to admit it. I saw other things too that should have been done in other way but I just chose to be quiet.

These seemingly small details are the reason that I have to be on hand during the finishing stage.

I'll do an Azuh for any artisan that installs anything until after tile and paint are done.

I submit ArchitectB exhibits on what I'll accept.

actions and intentions can be very easily misconstrued, that I have learnt from experience.

Azuh is the username of one of us on here, he has threatened to run stark unclad enter market for Nigerian builders that built him his "chiken piller".

Be careful, he'll ask you to post your picture grin

Thanks to everyone that has contributed towards making my lil mansion a better one. Now @kolashangeone people who are here aren't dumb or criticising your well input efforts. If there are ways you'd take corrections kindly do so without further ado. Like @egunmogaji @fastshipping and others have said. Do the needful without being sturborn remember at the end of it all. I shall live in there with my family. Then you'll have moved on to greater things. Once again. I appreciate all. If anything isn't well done as supposed I am open to anything that will make it bes than whatever it is at the moment.

Section-1 - I and you are on the same point.
section-2 - Also on the same point.... don't they have drills in Nigeria anymore to drill thru the Tiles?

I guess we all have our ways of doing things. Regardless, @Kolashangone is doing a good job on that project. Your artisans are good.

Do you see how precise the round and square cutting on those tiles by ArchitectB guys? That alone speaks for the tiler...
You need to see some Tilers round or square cut like they broke the tiles with their teeth. smiley

Yes sir, I saw them and saluted him. I think he was surprised but that's what people like us key on.

Maybe I'll be able to afford him to do the finishing on the main house when the time comes.

Quality that shows pride of workmanship will always be noticed and it sells.

I will never allow that be done in my project. So keep it mind when you work for me next time o.

1. Tiles first before installing toilets, basins, tubs, etc.
2. Paints first before installing lighting fixtures...

Others may prefer it the other way around but not I.

Note: I want to hear Oga Kola's explanations... I am always willing to learn.

Oga, since u will be using pop in the sitting room as I assumed, do u still need these side lamps? Its local and old especially for someone who have lived abroad.

The Nigeria everyday design should be adjusted.

Some people actually have both lights (POP and Wall Lights) installed. Because when those POP lights are dead, it takes a while to have them replaced..
So since that light is already done, I will say leave it alone and still add more lights to the POP.

you are right sir, But do u know pop lights are very easy to change? And besides All the lights can't be dead at once which means the living room can never be in darkness. The wall (4 sides) lights is old fashioned that shouldn't go along with a pop ceiling. He might choose to leave it sha cos it won't change anything.

I just think we should be doing something different and not what "we always do"
