Hello,

I just got my first car, which is a manual car that I wanted so I can be perfect with driving as some say...

I should start hitting the highway by next month and would like to know the documents that will/should be required for a hitch free ride in Nigeria so I wont have issues with VIO/FRSC/Lastma/Police people dem...

I should start with a Learner's Permit before I finally get the license.

You need the customs papers, Vehicle license, Road Worthiness in case of Pre-owned car, Police Report (CMR), Insurance (Third party is ok), Drivers license, Fire Extinguisher, Extra Tyre, C-Caution.

Thanks so much. Do I need custom papers cos the person I got it from bought it new. Its the Honda City VTec Manual Transmission and you mean Vehicle License as in the plate number cos its got one. What do I need a police report for?

With our road enforcement agents, they would always find a document you don't have ie receipt for the spare tyre, receipt for car stereo, why is inner light not working

Yes. They are fond of that. But what about the legal papers that are meant to go with a vehicle/driver to avoid the necessary/proper embarrassment.

Just had an encounter with an FRSC officer that claimed 2 of my tyres have Expired angry

So maybe check expiry date of your tyres

There's a 4 digit number on d tyre that's d manufacturing date; 1st 2 digits is d week n last 2 digit is d year.
Expiry date is 4yrs after d manufacturing date

CRM is a document that confirm the registration of the vehicle with the Nigeria Police. Police do ask for this document once they stop you on the road. The seller of the vehicle should have provide you this document but should incase you are not given, is better to get another one for the vehicle.
