why must our muslim brothers result to the destruction of lives and properties of their non muslim brethen?
I just read about the Bauchi crises online and it brought back memories of the Maiduguri riot and killings of 2006. God saved me and my loved ones on that fateful february 2006.
I used to live in Maiduguri, where i had attended primary school and made lots of friends. maiduguri is like my second home. I love the town and the peaceful kanuri people. After high school and travelling around west africa and asia, i decided to settle in maiduguri, a town i love so much.
You can imagine my shock when christians(not only igbos) were attacked on febuary 2006 by muslims protesting a cartoon in Denmark!!!
Many of the people who lost properties and lost ones didnt even know there was such a cartoon.
what in God's name does that cartoon in Denmark have to do with christians living in Nigeria?
many churches were burnt on that bloody saturday, many homes and businesses were reduced to rubble and lives were lost.
Now, back to the Bauchi issue, i read that the fracas started with two muslim sects who were fighting to control a mosque. then unknown people set the mosque ablaze!!!
Now, both muslim sects joined hands and started killing christians and burning churches.
I've lived in the north a long time and i know that no christain would dare attack a muslim first or even cross a mosque.
the muslims are now on rampage destrioying lives and properties.
Tomorrow, Northern governors will begin to shout that their people are less previledged in Education and that the north lack developement.
why wont the north lack developement when their religion scares away interested investors.
i hope that enlightened muslims like my friends Hassan, Hussieni, Ibrahim, Anjikwi and Aishatu get to read this and do something positive.
We need to live together peacefully. Until we do that, the north will never develope significantly. Investors are already leaving the north.
I know of someone who is about to buy a multi million naira house in the north to set up a factory. he just told me, he's getting cold feet about it.
Muslims, please rethink
