As Nigeria joined the rest of the global community to mark the World Blood Donor Day, which is observed on June 14, stakeholders have called for voluntary blood donation to boost depleting blood banks across the country.

Despite the appeal for more people to donate, many lives have been lost due to shortage of blood products to transfuse into accident victims and other patients who suffer loss of blood.
