Yes the guys were wrong, but could she have avoided the event? maybe. She said one of the friends grabbed her and threw her on the bed and she thought he was playing, was she used to these sort of play and did she warn the guy when he did it before? Did she read the signs in their lustful stares before that day and stay away?
Its unhealthy to ignore signs that show you are being monitored for an attack by a predator. Most bad incidents show signs before they happen. Friends don't turn enemies overnight, the signs usually appear and someone overlooked them. The guys have probably shown her their true motives and she just laughed it off without taking the signs seriously. Mad people would always do mad things, A lion will always eat meat, do not mistake its playful nature for friendship, it is just trying to earn your trust to keep you close for the day it gets hungry, so it wouldn't have to run 500kms to hunt you down.

I Dont agree with you, visiting a friend early does not mean she is dating him. i had a friend that comes to my house early anytime she is back from sch. and if she is dating him why on earth will he allow his friend bleep his girl friend its an act that is not cool. he should be dealt with accordingly.

This has nothing to do with blaming the rape victim. Have you noticed that rape cases have been on a geometric rise for some years now which prompted the past senate to pass the life imprisonment bill for rapists this year where the crime usually attracted 14 years to 21 years as felony in the past?

How has mankind survived this long inspite of the hazards of living, the natural disasters, the sweeping fatal contagious diseases that ravage mankind from time to time, the large scale wars, the religious clashes, cult activities resulting in the death of many, terrorism, etc etc? Why are we still surviving when we should have been wiped out of existence long ago? The answer is ADAPTATION.

We adapt. This is our greatest survival skill. When circumstances threaten us, our happiness, our lives, we seek new values and ideas or patterns to replace the old ones which help us in resisting the threat. We adapt to a new lifestyle that is adequate for the survival of our specie. What used to work in the past is never guaranteed to always work in the future. We change with the times. Anybody who refuses to adapt becomes a meal for the existing threat. This is why I blame a person for falling victim - refusing to adapt.

In the same vein, by now ladies should have adapted to a new lifestyle with the fast growing crime of rape in the country and in the world. They should abandon the I-trust-him attitude and replace it with the he-is-capable-of-anything attitude. Times have changed, so must we. A girl going to a guy's house in the past may have been harmless but with the rate of crime from such action today, it is highly stupid and unwise to even attempt it and that is where the blame comes in.

A long time ago, one of my sisters, a cousin, confided in me and narrated an ordeal she went through in the hands of a blind date. The guy's ungentlemanly actions showed her that his only intentions were to get under her skirt whether she approved or not, and that in public! I blamed her because I had always told her men are evil and never to be trusted. She was sooooo lucky they met at a public place. Needless to say she learnt her lesson.

The moral of this story - adapt or be victimised.

Something has to be done about this r@pe thing.

It is getting too common!

The law needs to be very firm and unyielding in this stance.

OTOH, girls need to protect themselves better in respect to the kind of relations they keep with 'friends' no matter how close; as long as they are non family members -- even some family members.

When the girls said the below:
