TheSonOfMark: How else should I contribute sir? Tell them what they already know? If I had contested with GMB this last ellection with the pure mind to positively change Naija would you have voted for me? What can I do from the side line? Did I clap for the leaders? There is God na, that is all I can say. Howmany Nigerians knew that this past ellections wasnt between GEJ and GMB alone? That there were others contesting and that those others should be looked at? What did you do then to push thr options available to Nigerians besides GEJ and GMB? What inteligent FP topic did you post to spread the word? Did most Nigerians vote with reason and wisdom? Did they look beyound their noses? What more should I say that our leaders dont know? You can open a new topic where you can train me on how to make inteligent contribution. I will be happy to learn, Abegi, I cant shout today. Leave me as I dey jeje o. Diaris God. 1 Like |

The Army has had equipment issues for a long time.I recall the Senate in 2002 or thereabouts visited Army formations....and was shocked.I also recall the Ikeja bomb disaster of 2002....where poorly stored rockets went off and created a conflagration that led to the deaths of nearly 1000 people...and the comments by experts that if there had been proper storage facilities, none of the mess would have happened. It is going to be hard to fund the army because of the drop in oil prices. My hope is that Nigeria becomes an industrial society so that not only do we have the funds for the army....we can even manufacture the equipment needed for the Army. |

What danger? There is no info about where they are headed; battle zone or barrack? Whichever one, troops are usually transported in trucks (I haven't seen this articulated type before sha). It makes more sense than to transport them all in hiluxes. It's not like the hilux they use is bullet or bomb proof anyway. 1 Like |

carzola: It is going to take more than the funds for a helipad to fund the army adequately. Besides....what did your hero GEJ,who we were informed by people like you transformed Nigeria into El-dorado, do about the Army's needs?.Nothing...as can be seen from the picture. Buhari is not God..... |

During GEJ era, sodiers used Armored Personnel Carriers Now under Dullardihno, they are on the back of Mack trailer! Did the Daura President sell all the APCs and Tanks too in order to cut spending? Or is this part of the change we were promised ? 1 Like |

So because what will happen will happen will prevent you from wearing a seat belt or a hard hat or not drink and drive or not have a spare tire in your car or not wear protective goggles in a sand storm or not providing body armour and protective vehicles to soldiers. PMB once said that GEJ has no knowledge on how to use the military, but to what I have seen so far, I begin to wonder a former military head of state and civilian who has made the best use of the military Or is it true he only study how to rear cattle in his school days Just a question though |

bushdoc9919:GEJ was funding the army and equipping them to fight Boko haram and he was very close to bring an end to the said sect. before the dulaard took over and now we have to start from step one cause of his inability to his disfunctional brains to use.. as you can see from the pictures there where taken during Buhari's time in office. a simple and reasonable Nigerian by now should know Buhari is to blame, and if his not a god he shouldnt have come out to run for power. 1 Like |

bushdoc9919: See Nigerians. I was saying that massive dis-investment over the decades and especially since 1999 (a widely supported backlash against the institution for its incursion into politics) resulted in a lot of inadequacies we witnessed till date, they were busy shouting corruption and that politicizing the military and its counter-insurgency operations. So we expected that after May 29th the 'pot bellied Generals and their civilian collaborators' will make equip the same army better than their American counterparts, as civil as their Swiss counterparts and as effective as the British SAS. Now under a new regime its same story. We have wasted years playing politics with basic issues of governance. And we will pay for it. 1 Like |

omenka: What we should be doing instead of playing politics is asking proper questions like, what has the money been spent on. How effective have the resources been deployed. Remember a defence budget as in our case comprises two parts: operations as pertaining to wars and administrative as pertaining to preparation and recovery from wars. We seem to forget that this is the longest war Nigeria has faced. Not a brief blowout like the civil war but a slow and dibilitating insurgency. Slow burning wars like that in the Delta and Savannah are notoriously expensive to prosecute and sustain. Endless air patrols by jets, drones, choppers, boats consume huge quantities of stores and maintenance costs as well. A typical artillery shell will cost anything upwards of N 100,000 same for an infantry man's rifle. These are required in the tens of thousands to replace lost, damaged or worn inventories. Training costs money. If it a new platform or system it could take years of expensive orientation. We need to know what is happening so that the country can brace for the necessary sacrifices instead of playing party politics to our collective danger. |

This reminds me of the remake of WW2 invasion of japan i saw on history channel. Marines were conveyed in huge watercrafts that could covey 200 men at a time. On arrival at the beach, the guard doors were let down and the men pushed out only to become floating ducks for japanese machine guns to easily shoot down. I guess the army heirarchy is looking to cut costs and convey more men at a time, but then their safety should come first. We need ilitary industrial complex. 1 Like |

Pangea: The first thing I though was this is a RPG carrying terrorists wet dream. One big target you can't possibly miss with a big fat causality list. It's not uncommon for infantry to be transported in military trucks in with backs but even that has been abandoned in most unconventional front lines as is with AQ , ISIS etc. Those guys specialise in RPG and IED |
