That is not what the reserves are meant to be used for. LOL

Its not meant to be for contract execution.... Nigerians be like market buy and sell nooo ooo


Money in reserves is normally used to defend the countrys currency when things are bad

it not an account you withdraw from to pay salaries or recurrent expenditure

Jonathan met over 60 Billion in there and spent almost half of that not to defend the currency when oil prices fell bit spent on reccurent expenditure

that was a poor and suisidal move

i dont habe confidence in the governore of the CBN as well

Im privy to all the bad practices hes bn coniving with the immediate past government

why hes speaking to defend his position and visiting Bukola Saraki is because hes gotten wind a new governore might be appointed soon

The CBN givernor is nor more less a Commercial Banker nothing more

Nigerians are really i d i o t s. Naira to dollar is increasing. How does the foreign reserve increase overnight when the government can't pay salaries despite oil price going higher in the week at OPEC? This is another propaganda by the dullard administration.

Algeria ($193.6 billion) has far more foreign reserve than Spain ($55.2b), Hollland, Finland ($10.45b), Australia. Even more than Germany ($192.6b), France ($141.5b), UK ($156.06b), Italy($139.9b), USA ($121.5b), Denmark ($108.3b), Canada, Israel, Poland, UAE, Sweden etc.

Iran ($110.0b) & Libya ($105.0b) also have more than Canada ($77.8b), Spain ($55.2b), Holland ($41.3b), Sweden ($60.5b), Norway, Australia, Israel, UAE ($74.7b) etc. Does it mean that Algeria, Iran & Libya have better economies or their currencies are trusted more internationally than those developed countries? shocked grin

Even China with the highest at nearly 4 trillion dollars in reserves still has poverty.

Fiscal discipline is good BUT investment in infrastructure and key sectors are extremely important to make our economy boom.

I have no qualms taking $10billion from that reserve if IT CAN GENUINELY solve three major problems even by 75 to 85 %: Electricity, unemployment & insecurity.

No ministers yet and even key political appointments yet because of God knows what, which simply means everything has being in limbo and Nigeria has been running on autopilot for more than a month now. I have always known you to be a dolt. You just confirmed it. Brent crude dropped over $5 to $53 dollars in just one week and see the fo.ol here telling us oil price rose in OPEC . when did OPEC start having their own special price for oil apart from what the international market states?

I thought he said he met empty treasury? So he met 29b dollars? OK naa. On buhari increasing the revenue since he came in, the cbn governor is trying to play politics to retain his position. There was no need for buhari to spend money in the first place. There is no economic plan, the policy thrust of his administration is unknown. The country has been earning money, what does the cbn governor want him to spend the money on? For one to say the president has increased the revenue profile of the country, then he should come up with alternative source of revenue, he should come up with clear cut economic policies . That has not happened yet. To credit PMB with increasing the revenue profile, is wrong and misleading.

You dont get it, do you? The ban on import waivers has created a lacuna in demand for Fx to fund artficial demand for dollar. Before now, importers fleece the govt through tax evasion and further diversions of these monies to foreign accounts in hard FX currencies. Import waivers are systemic tools for siphoning funds to foreign banks. Monies that would have helped shore up foreign reserve and help boost FDI.
