For a new international online project called NigerianHeroes (www.facebook.com/nigerianheroesblog) I am looking for volunteers who are interested to help improve the way Nigeria and its people are seen by Foreigners and Nigerians themselves. All you need is a camera/ or smartphone with which you can snap pictures and means to send them through either Whattsapp Messenger or Email. This is a great opportunity to promote the country you love so much. This is a volutneer job, so no salary paid. But it takes only few minutes of your time and has a great impact on the perception of Nigerians, so it is definately worht the while. Let me know if you are interested!

The concept of the NigerianHeroes Project is pretty simple: I want to be posting pictures of Nigerian individuals on a regular basis together with a short story about why the portrayed person is a hero. This might sound a bit strange at the beginning but if you think about it, everybody is a hero in his own way. The boy that sells pure water to help his mother pay the house rent, the roadside mechanic who is able to fix almost every car with his bare hands, the madam that wakes up early in the morning just to be able to sell her food at noon and feed her children…and so on. These portraits should put a new focus on Nigerians and show how hard working, optimistic and positive they are. Not only will this be a great way to promote the Nigerian spirit amongst Nigerians but also make a positive impact on the way the world sees Nigeria as a whole. I am sure you understand the concept already (if you don’t please do not hesitate to ask your questions).

You probably have encountered many prejudices from foreigners about how bad Nigerians are, or how hopeless the future of Nigeria is. And you probably must have met many Nigerians who think that in Europe or the States everything is better than in Nigeria. Well this is the perception I want to change.

So what does it take to be a volunteer?
All you need to do is snap pictures of Nigerian individuals you think that are heroes and write a short text (1 to 10 lines) about why they are heroes. Then you send me those pictures including the text through either Whatssapp or Email and I will be publishing them on the NigerianHeroes blog. It is totally up to you how often you do that, of course the more regular the better for the project but since this is a volunteer Job, you are free to send me anything at all whenever you want.
