i have a 2005 corolla s, which is very boring, the 1.8L 4cyl engine lacks power but at least it tries ,

am thinking of some mods,
am getting some new set of wheels
i might lower the suspension
also going to buy an after market intake...

but my prob is on the exhaust system, i want it to be a dual exit straight pipe but i dont even know how to go about it, making a dual exit from an i4 engine
, am going to delete the muffler and resonator but am keeping the catalyst and sensors
i dont care about fuel economy

Front row seat to this. Have done a mid muffler delete on my car( 1999 Acura TL V6) would tell you the sound is impressive.

I did delete the mid muffler then changed the rear mufflers to stainless steel ones(bought them tokumbo, made by Remus). Was droning after the installation but stopped when my mech noticed to exhaust rubber were missing and installed them. mine makes this cool growl btwn 2000rpm- 2700rpm. Quiet when idling.

What's the aim? Power gain? Better remove the catalyst and install a turbo charger re map the engine ECU, then I know you are ready. This one nah cosmetics.

all I can say is wish the op goodluck, I don't have much experience in modding cars. I would have also advice the op to get himself a new ride that can deliver speed and swagg rather than mod this corolla because when it comes to selling it, nobody cares whether it is a speed demon or not, it still the same as my grand ma's corolla. lol

Hey man, as long as you ate not doing any ECU tuning and visiting the dyno to check if performancd and bHP increase is achieved then I'd say you are slapping on parts blindly which effectively makes your mods qualify as a "ricer".

FWD and mods are not close friends @ op that corolla will not be a good car for pure modification.
Re: Running A Straight Pipe On My Corolla S by HeavenlyBang(m): 2:25pm On Nov 12, 2020
What an awful idea. No one wants to hear a straight-piped four cylinder.

No one wants to hear a straight-piped car, period.

I used to assume this before. But the drivetrain doesn't matter. (except4drift) Never joke with a spoon civic

It does. FWD is bad for performance driving. It's simple physics.

Do ur self a favour. Spoon has a modified 2000 Acura integra type r. Check it out on youtube then come back lets gist

Many motorsports event apart from formula d. I.E
Time attack
Auto cross
Rally
There are still some folks using FWD with great victories.

A properly tuned civic with a k24 single garret turbo will set quick 0-60 time.

Infact papadakis racing team had an insanely fast yellow civic. Have u come across any video yet

If that same car was RWD, it'd perform better.

Asking a set of wheels to both steer and transfer power to the ground has plenty of disadvantages. Google torque steer.

Also, when launching a car, weight is transferred from the front to the back. That means the weight of the car is moving away from the driven wheels in a FWD, making for less traction.

I'm not saying you can't get a FWD car go perform well, I'm saying that it's inherently worse than RWD. There's a reason why you don't see any FWD supercars or even sports cars. And before you mention it, no, the Civic Type R is not a sports car.

My ringtone is a straightpiped 20valve 4AGE blacktop from a TOYOTA COROLLA AE86. Do u knw why, it makes my hair to vibrate.
Try it out. But i warn u. Its more addictive than molly.

So heavenlybang, there is this hillclimb event i watched. The fastest time set where by some cars such as

Hyundai i10
Peugout 406 stw
Integra type r

Drivetrain is just the beginning. Any car can be damn fast, just depends how its set up. Torque steer in a FWD is corrected by modifications to the suspension. LOL, so u dont know. Haha,. Even a damn PRIUS can be built properly to beat a bmw ///M3.

You missed the entire point.

If you put the same amount of money in mods in a RWD platform, it'd perform better than a FWD car.
