No matter what city quality Nigeria tries to build, it will never escape this standard of living in its destiny. Unless, the wealth and might of it's boasted economy is reset so that the significant part of that wealth is not soley in the hands of a few billionaires and a college of political office holders.
Majority of people in Nigeria can only afford this type of living and so this type of life will sprout every where in Nigeria.
The questin to ask, how many of them work for the so call great FCT and its up keep, yet their salaries cannot afford them to live within the FCT image proper.
A man with amillion toilets will still have his house scattered with excrement if he keeps all the toilets to himself and forbids his workforce of toilet cleaners to share some of his 1million toilets or does not pay them enough to afford their own toilet.

FCT will get exactly what it pays for and it will not get whatever it is not paying for. Increase minimum wage and make measures to control price gougeing and artificial inflation.

brother I really like ur post and u did a very good analysis of what the FCT is. in fact I have gone round the place and the so call place the call the heart of the fct is filled with empty houses.

Op yes fct has its poor places but the crown for the most overhyped city goes to Lagos then Port Harcourt. Compare the slums of Lagos to those pics.........it makes these pics look like a middle class area by comparison.

Maybe I will visit abuja one day. I have been to countries like Panama when they were rated as fastest growing economy in south or central america. They were building many skyscrapers and modern condominiums/hotels. The prices were very high and many sat empty/vacant because no one could afford to rent them. All the growth was from big money people and big drug dealers building modern buildings that no one could afford. Salaries there remain mostly low while a few rich people and foriegners buy up the land and build and increase the value for their own pocket. Now even farmers cannot afford land to grow food because of this. and they have to import food which increases many food prices for them.
Same with china and their super growing economy based on building entire cities that sat empty and many rot away today from new condition without ever being used. Meanwhile they have many poor people living in rooms the size of boxes because they cannot afford the abundant housing units that rot away.
