Research and experience a security circles show that attacks on VIPs occur when they are in transit (moving from point A to point B).

To minimize the risk all possibilities of attacks need to be covered. Thus the importance and the need for armoured vehicles.

If they did not have some form of armouring on their vehicle (you can check the facts online) they would not have lived that long.

Come to think of it what is the point you are trying to make? that they work on the street alone and if you had ur wishes bare footed?

A thorough analysis of the kidnappings in the Niger Delta shows that most occured after the drivers have been shot at and the vehicles immobilized.

I welcome your comments but if you were in their shows you would no the importance of these vehicles. If not you can still move on to another topic,

and whose money would they be spending, the states money or 'their' money they stole from the state treasury? the vehicle Benazir Bhutto was killed in was armoured. you could actually see the extra reinforcement made to the car. She got assasinated on first attempt. Yes?

Just a little info to douse you lack of knowledge

read this part in particular

EXPAT TAKEN FROM BUS

More than 200 foreigners have been kidnapped in the Niger Delta since the region's main militant group, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), began a campaign of sabotage against the oil industry just over three years ago.

Many have been taken by copycat criminal gangs and released unharmed after the payment of a ransom.

Security sources cited an eye witness saying armed men abducted an expatriate from a bus he was travelling in with colleagues in central Port Harcourt, the main oil city in the Niger Delta, on Thursday.

The sources said the military were in pursuit of the kidnappers but gave no further details.

Insecurity in the region has cut Nigeria's oil output by around a fifth and has led foreign companies in sectors from construction to telecoms, as well as the oil industry, to reconsider investments and reduce expatriate staffing.

MEND, which has been holding two British hostages for more than four months, warned almost two weeks ago that the kidnapping of "high-value oil workers" from Western Europe and North America would continue to be part of its strategy in 2009.

Gentlemen

Does that mean that hardworking wealthy Nigerians should not have this kind of protection. Many of them with only the fact that there are wealthy have been attached, kidnapped and even shot at by assailants paid to do that or even those who wish to make a fortune from the ransom.

Law enforcement agencies use guns does that mean that guns should vanish from the earth because criminals use it. Do you need to ask how many countries have been freed from captivity from armed struggle?

Those who know the value of these vehicles will always purchase them.

Enough said for now,

Oga,

Your point is baseless. The whole concept of armoured vehicles is based on the fact that when attacked apart from the ability to protect the occupants from gunfire (B6 armouring protects attacks from AK 47, M16, SS - 109 Armour Piercing rounds and lesser threats ) and also IED's (Improvised Explosive Devices) .

Like i said this product sells itself for does who need it.

Metropolitan police findings on Bhutto

Official summary of the Metropolitan police SO15 counter-terrorism command executive report into the assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto

Bhutto died from head injury in blast, Scotland Yard says

* guardian.co.uk, Friday 8 February 2008 11.10 GMT
* Article history

On December 27 2007, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the leader of the Pakistan People's party (PPP), died as a result of being attacked in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Following discussions between the prime minister and President Musharraf, it was agreed that officers from the Metropolitan police counter-terrorism command (SO15) should support the investigation into Ms Bhutto's death. The primary focus of the Scotland Yard team was to assist the Pakistani authorities in establishing the cause and circumstances of Ms Bhutto's death. The wider investigation to establish culpability has remained entirely a matter for the Pakistani authorities.

The SO15 team was led by a detective superintendent senior investigating officer, and comprised two forensic experts, an expert in analysing and assessing video media and an experienced investigating officer. The team arrived in Pakistan on January 4 2008 and spent two and a half weeks conducting extensive enquiries. During the course of their work, the team were joined by other specialists from the United Kingdom.

The UK team were given extensive support and cooperation by the Pakistani authorities, Ms Bhutto's family, and senior officials from Ms Bhutto's party.

The terms of reference to which the UK team worked were centred upon establishing the precise sequence of events from the conclusion of Ms Bhutto's speech at the political rally in Rawalpindi on December 27, until the time at which she was pronounced dead at Rawalpindi general hospital later that day.

The task of establishing exactly what happened was complicated by the lack of an extended and detailed search of the crime scene, the absence of an autopsy, and the absence of recognised body recovery and victim identification processes. Nevertheless, the evidence that is available is sufficient for reliable conclusions to be drawn.

Within the overall objective, a particular focus has been placed on establishing the actual cause of death, and whether there were one or more attackers in the immediate vicinity of Ms Bhutto.

The cause of death

Considerable reliance has been placed upon the x-rays taken at Rawalpindi general hospital following Ms Bhutto's death. Given their importance, the x-rays have been independently verified as being of Ms Bhutto by comparison with her dental x-rays. Additionally, a valuable insight was gained from the accounts given by the medical staff involved in her treatment, and from those members of Ms Bhutto's family who washed her body before burial.

Ms Bhutto's only apparent injury was a major trauma to the right side of the head. The UK experts all exclude this injury being an entry or exit wound as a result of gunshot. The only x-ray records, taken after her death, were of Ms Bhutto's head. However, the possibility of a bullet wound to her mid or lower trunk can reasonably be excluded. This is based upon the protection afforded by the armoured vehicle in which she was travelling at the time of the attack, and the accounts of her family and hospital staff who examined her.

The limited x-ray material, the absence of a full postmortem examination and CT scan, have meant that the UK Home Office pathologist, Dr Nathaniel Cary, who has been consulted in this case, is unable categorically to exclude the possibility of there being a gunshot wound to the upper trunk or neck. However, when his findings are put alongside the accounts of those who had close contact with Ms Bhutto's body, the available evidence suggests that there was no gunshot injury. Importantly, Dr Cary excludes the possibility of a bullet to the neck or upper trunk as being a relevant factor in the actual cause of death, when set against the nature and extent of her head injury.

In his report Dr Cary states: "The only tenable cause for the rapidly fatal head injury in this case is that it occurred as the result of impact due to the effects of the bomb blast.

"In my opinion, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto died as a result of a severe head injury sustained as a consequence of the bomb blast and due to head impact somewhere in the escape hatch of the vehicle."

Given the severity of the injury to Ms Bhutto's head, the prospect that she inadvertently hit her head whilst ducking down into the vehicle can be excluded as a reasonable possibility.

High explosives of the type typically used in this sort of device, detonate at a velocity between 6,000 and 9,000 metres per second. This means that when considering the explosive quantities and distances involved, such an explosion would generate significantly more force than would be necessary to provoke the consequences as occurred in this case.

It is also important to comment upon the construction of the vehicle. It was fitted with B6 grade armour and designed to withstand gunfire and bomb blast. It is an unfortunate and misleading aspect of this case that the roof escape hatch has frequently been referred to as a sunroof. It is not. It is designed and intended to be used solely as a means of escape. It has a solid lip with a depth of 9cm.

Ms Bhutto's injury is entirely consistent with her head impacting upon the lip of the escape hatch. Detailed analysis of the media footage provides supporting evidence. Ms Bhutto's head did not completely disappear from view until 0.6 seconds before the blast. She can be seen moving forward and to the right as she ducked down into the vehicle. Whilst her exact head position at the time of the detonation can never be ascertained, the overwhelming conclusion must be that she did not succeed in getting her head entirely below the lip of the escape hatch when the explosion occurred.

How many people were involved in the immediate attack?

There has been speculation that two individuals were directly involved in the attack. The suggestion has been that one suspect fired shots and a second detonated the bomb. All the available evidence points toward the person who fired shots and the person who detonated the explosives being one and the same person.

· Body parts from only one individual remain unidentified. Expert opinion provides strong evidence that they originate from the suicide bomber.

· Analysis of the media footage places the gunman at the rear of the vehicle and looking down immediately before the explosion. The footage does not show the presence of any other potential bomber.

· This footage, when considered alongside the findings of the forensic explosive expert, that the bombing suspect was within one to two metres of the vehicle towards its rear and with no person or other obstruction between him and the vehicle, strongly suggests that the bomber and gunman were at the same position. It is virtually inconceivable that anyone who was where the gunman can clearly be seen on the media footage, could have survived the blast and escaped.

The inevitable conclusion is that there was one attacker in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle in which Ms Bhutto was travelling.

In essence, all the evidence indicates that one suspect has fired the shots before detonating an improvised explosive device. At the time of the attack, this person was standing close to the rear of Ms Bhutto's vehicle. The blast caused a violent collision between her head and the escape hatch area of the vehicle, causing a severe and fatal head injury.

John MacBrayne QPM, Detective Superintendent counter-terrorism command, February 1 2008[/b][/b]

It is clear that she did not die from the blast since her armoured vehicle protected her but she dies from the injury she had while ducking in the vehicle.

Like i said look before you leap.

Reporter witnesses Afghan bomb attack
Updated 3/19/2007 3:47 PM | Comment | Recommend E-mail | Save | Print |

KABUL, Afghanistan — The three armored Chevrolet Suburbans from the U.S. Embassy caught my eye Monday morning alongside the donkey carts and rundown Toyotas that compete for space on the muddy, bumpy highway that heads east out of Afghanistan's capital.

"You should never get too close to those vehicles," I cautioned my driver as we waited at an intersection to let them pass while on our way to run errands.

ON DEADLINE: More detail on the bomb attack

Moments later, a fireball ripped through the convoy, wounding five U.S. Embassy security guards and killing a 15-year-old Afghan bystander — the first Taliban suicide bombing in Kabul this year.

Taliban and other militants are increasingly resorting to Iraq-style tactics of suicide and roadside bombings in their campaign against foreign troops and President Hamid Karzai's shaky government.

Last year saw an explosion of violence in Afghanistan, including 139 suicide attacks, mostly in the south and east. Maj. William Mitchell, a U.S. military spokesman, said there have been 28 suicide attacks in 2007, including one last month that killed 23 people outside the big U.S. base at Bagram during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney.

Kabul remains comparatively calm, but when a bomb does shatter the peace, more often than not it comes on the potholed Jalalabad Road where NATO, U.S. and Afghan army bases are located and which leads to Bagram north of the capital.

NATO troops in armored personnel carriers barrel down the highway, as do armored SUVs often used by foreign diplomats and security contractors, like the three Chevys without number plates that passed us.

As Sher, my driver, slowed the Associated Press car — he was taking me to do some shopping on my day off — the two black and one silver SUVs passed. A small truck got in between us and the convoy as we merged into busy traffic.

Just as we picked up speed, a huge fireball erupted in the convoy about 50 to 70 yards ahead of us. Black smoke billowed into the air while debris showered down. We pulled over and jumped out to seek safety behind a wall.

Flames engulfed the bomber's wrecked Toyota Corolla, flung next to a line of pine trees and tall aerials on the right side of the road. Other charred debris was strewn across the road and in nearby fields.

The black SUV at the head of the convoy bore the brunt of the blast, ending up on the left side of the road, some of its bulletproof windows smashed and its front mangled. The two Suburbans behind it were also damaged.

One of the doors of the badly damaged SUV opened. An armed man got out, dazed and limping as he slumped next to the rear right tire. Other guards jumped from the three SUVs, pointing their guns in a circle to guard against a potential ambush or second bomber.

A man was pulled from the front SUV and laid on the muddy ground. Some guards administered first aid as a crowd started gathering.

It was not clear who was in the convoy, but the embassy said Ambassador Ronald Neumann was not among them. A NATO spokesman, Col. Tom Collins, said the five wounded were security personnel for the embassy. He said one was seriously hurt. A 15-year-old boy passing by was killed, said Hasib Arian, the district police chief.

A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousef Ahmadi, said in a phone call to the AP that a Taliban militant from Khost province carried out the attack. The claim could not be independently verified.

Minutes after the blast, Afghan security forces arrived with sirens wailing.

The guards from the convoy, joined by other U.S. personnel who raced up in more armored SUVs from the fortress-like embassy compound 2 miles down the road, did not want the Afghans getting close. Tempers flared and shouting broke out.

A shouting embassy man ran toward the Afghan intelligence service and took a camera from one of them as he filmed the blast scene from a distance.

Two other embassy guards confronted a two-man Italian TV crew and took their camera, saying they could get it from the embassy later. The journalists were in Kabul to cover Monday's release by Taliban militants of Italian reporter Daniele Mastrogiacomo, who had been kidnapped in the south. The team pleaded for their equipment back. They got it 10 hours later, tape inside, from the Italian Embassy.

A French military officer — part of the NATO-led security force that patrols Kabul — said the U.S. embassy security team blocked him from approaching the scene for 20 minutes. Later French and British soldiers helped secure the site and investigate the bombing.

"Everyone gets a bit nervous after these attacks," said the officer, who refused to be quoted by name. "I showed them my flag but they did not care," he said, referring to the French tricolor stitched to his uniform. "That is not good."

None of the vehicles in the attacked convoy was immediately recognizable as a U.S. car, but hulking SUVs of that type would mark the occupants as foreigners, embassy employees or high-ranking Afghan officials.

All three Suburbans appeared to have jamming devices on their roofs — sophisticated technology that can delay a remotely detonated roadside bomb from going off, but powerless against a suicide attacker in a car loaded with explosives.

More than an hour after the bombing, a convoy of 12 embassy SUVs took away the guards hit by the attack. French military investigators scoured the nearby fields for evidence. Hundreds of Afghans stood in the rain, watching.

Armored Yukon saves lives in Afghanistan

The vehicle (see photo) received excessive damage and was ultimately undrivable. There were four occupants in the vehicle who escaped shaken, but unharmed.

The armored vehicles currently being shipped to Afghanistan, from one of IAC's worldwide facilities, are able to defeat high-power rifle fire, as well as Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).

Even with the recent military troop buildup in the region, attacks appear to have intensified.

Recently, one of IAC's vehicles was again put to the test in Afghanistan. While this armoured vehicle was out on assignment it was attacked by small arms fire and the
detonation of an IED
.

Mark F. Burton, Founder and CEO of IAC, commented, "Many lives have been saved from injury and even death as a result of these armored vehicles. Operating in a war zone increases the risk of our vehicles being tested.
We are pleased with how our armored vehicles have not only performed under harsh environmental conditions (+heat, road conditions, etc.),+ but during the ultimate test, an ATTACK. I do not see any decrease in demand for these types of vehicles in this
region of the world."
