JUICING FOR PREGNANT MOTHERS

Pregnancy presents series of body and hormonal changes. Emotionally, most women are excited, nervous, happy, scared – often all at the same time! The most significant of it all are the series of uncertainties that surrounds this period.

You think of having a strong, healthy and bright baby, how easy will labour and delivery be? What if something goes wrong? How ready am I for parenting?  What best start do I give to my baby? These uncertainties can be un-ending.

The best start of life you can give to your developing/ growing baby is to take good care of yourself. Nine months of pregnancy is quiet a lot time for you to calm yourself and your fears down.

Outside medical attention and mild exercises, a nutritious balanced diet goes a long way to support you and your baby throughout this period of physic, hormonal and body changes.  Eating well and the right foods do not help nor give your growing baby good beginning alone; it however helps you to maintain a needed energy that will carry you through your pre-natal, intra-natal and post natal periods.

Right from the day of your conception through the days of breast feeding, your body has the ability to provide all the necessary nutrients your growing fetus/ baby needs for a sound development. Proper nutrition can enable your body harness this ability effectively.

Among other sources of nutrients readily available at relatively low cost, you and your growing baby can effectively enjoy good health from the vitamins and enzymes inherent in fresh fruits and vegetables.

It is not an over statement! The juice of fresh fruits and vegetables is the richest available food source of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.
Enzymes are protein molecules which provide enormous benefits to our health.  Juice from fresh fruits and vegetables provides a combination of nutrients that nourishes your body (and that of your growing baby as well) and improves your health.
It's believed that a person should consume about 1lb of raw vegetables per 50lbs of body weight. Fruit and vegetable juice will help you and your baby meet up with the necessary vitamins and minerals for normal growth, tissue maintenance and efficient absorption (enzymes).
The most interesting thing about fruit or vegetable juice is that you can prepare it at the comfort of your home, and other items  that can make the taste of the juice come to your satisfaction will enjoying the numerous nutrients inherent in the fruits or vegetables.
Why Juicing?
1. Juicing eliminates the problem of not being able to chew fruits or vegetables to the tune that you and your baby need it.
2. Vitamins and minerals are easily passed from you to your baby through the placenta. This is because their source is in an easily digestible form. There is little or no case of indigestion.
3. You can make your own home fresh juices that are tastier, more nutritious and cost much less than bottled or prepared juices
4. The nutrients contained in a glass of fresh juice are absorbed within minutes, requiring almost no digestion as with solid foods. You'll feel an immediate energy boost when you need it.
…, and many more!

Note: It is important that you don’t consume great amount of FRUIT JUICE. Fruit juices tend to increase your insulin level. This state could lead to diabetes.
However, it is very important you concentrate more in juicing dark green leafy vegetables. Examples include; pumkin leaves, lettuces, spinach, kale, etc
