Few would argue that dolphins are intelligent. Exactly how intelligent is another matter. Kelly, probably the smartest dolphin ever will show you just how intelligent they are.

This is a story about dolphins…ok, a dolphin, named Kelly. She was one among several other dolphins housed at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Mississippi. The dolphins were trained to keep the pools clean by collecting any rubbish that falls into their pens. When they give it to a trainer, they are handsomely rewarded with a fish. Now, Kelly wasn’t satisfied with this deal. So, she came up with a plan.

Anytime people dropped paper into the water, Kelly collects them, goes under the water and hides them beneath a rock. The next time a trainer passes, she goes down to the rock and tears off a piece of paper to give to the trainer. After a fish reward, she goes back to the rock, tears off another piece of paper, gets another fish reward, and so on. Kelly had figured out that no matter the size of the paper, she will still be given the same reward. She has effectively trained the humans to do what she wants.



Like that wasn’t mind-blowing enough, she devised even more cunning strategies to get more delicious rewards. One day, it so happened that a gull flew into her pool. She caught it and handed it to trainers when they came by. Since it was a large bird, she was given lots of fish. And once again, the wheels started turning in Kelly’s head.

The next time she was fed, she saves the last fish and hides it under the same rock she had been hiding the papers. When the trainers are out of sight, she brings the fish to the surface and lures the gulls to it, which she would catch to get even more fish. She became a master and expert in this lucrative strategy that she taught her calf, who taught other calves, who taught even more calves, and so gull-baiting became a very popular pastime among the dolphins.

Now, that is one smart dolphin.

Bonus Fact: The brain of an adult bottlenose dolphin is about 25% heavier than the average human adult's brain.

Nottin's impossible bro, u might yet get rich enough to buy urself a few, 2 or 3 n watch dem display their intellect or maybe one day one u'lld wake up to find ur dolphin at ur front porch lol or ur dog might just give birth to 6 pups and one would be a dolphin.
