I want to beleive you made a mistake by comparing London with a big country as USA or could it be because there's really no other world class city in England?
Re: London And The U.s.which Is A Better Country by iice(f): 10:28am On Apr 01, 2009

Even the UK cannot stand America.
Re: London And The U.s.which Is A Better Country by blackspade(m): 6:39am On Apr 02, 2009
I get it, April fools!!

Everyone knows there's no comparison between a dirty, cold, boring, depressing hole like Britain and the land of opportunity a.k.a America.

wink
Re: London And The U.s.which Is A Better Country by Nobody: 9:05am On Apr 02, 2009
Lol @ Landwin.

Better in what sense?

Better is subjective - depends on what works best for you.

There are folk living in Nigeria, who have spent time in the UK and US, but still returned to Nigeria, because that was their preference.
So, your question doesn't really have any set answers.

No Comparison. Britannia rules the world.

The US is big for nothing. In the USA, they speak OUR language and their laws are based on OUR laws, in short without Great Britain the US would be anything. I do believe the US is the best place for Nigerians though so Poster if you are thinking of what visa to apply for then the US it is. grin

I actually prefer the United States of America to the United States of London, even though I grew up in the United States of London. smiley

I am employed by a British multinational and I had the opportunity to be seconded onto a global project that just happened to be based in San Diego, Cali. So far so good. It is actually quite nice working in America but having British employment terms and conditions. The amount of free time I get compared to my American colleagues is unbelievable but I try not to take the piss too much after all we are one team. The weather is fab too! grin

That is true.Americans have fewer vacation days than most countries but it is worth it.

To each their own but in my opinion life is way too short to be stuck in an office slaving away for the man. The British believe in a fair balance between work and life and I am blessed to be able to enjoy such terms in a foreign land. I am the envy of my colleagues who are obligated to work at least 50 hours a week while I can get away with working for just 37.5. One of my colleagues recently had a baby but had to be back at work 6 weeks after the birth. I doubt she thought it was worth it when one of our UK colleagues over the pond was off for a whole 6 months with full pay and a further six months on half pay.
I do very much enjoy working in America but I think it is tolerable only because I have different terms and conditions from the Americans. No way could I deal with working all throughout the year and only having on average 10 days vacation. At my company the Americans do get on average 20 days though but that is still a far cry from the 30 days a year that I get plus all my public holidays. Life is great!
Re: London And The U.s.which Is A Better Country by Nobody: 12:52pm On Apr 03, 2009
I couldn't deal with working 50 hours a week either - or working for anyone else either.

Self employment is great, ever thought of going it alone, Angie?
Re: London And The U.s.which Is A Better Country by AngieFan(f): 1:41pm On Apr 03, 2009
I do have a small business on the side, selling titbits on Ebay but I suppose I am too lazy to stretch myself further in that direction. The company I work for looks after their employees quite well and the perks are great so at the moment work life is a bit too cosy. May be when I'm a bit older.

I prefer living in London (UK).

Had the opportunity of working in NY state both NYC and Schenectady as well as Connecticut, found NYC to be too much like Lagos, everything and everyone was in a hurry, Schenectady was too backward for me and Connecticut was quiet. I've visited some other parts of the US and did like them though I was on holiday.

London just seems perfect, life is neither too hurried nor too slow.

even the caveman knows that the usa is way better than england,in fact than all the countries of the world put together. the only place in the world where the sky is skyier, the grass is grassier, the dog is doggier, the cat is cattier, and your wife is wiffier cool

If you want to live in lagos without armed robbers, go out and enjoy your pepper soup like in naija, enjoy our live music in joints as you do in niaja then london is the place to be. But if you want to go abroad then go to America. London is almost sysnomous with lagos. Infact london is lagos that works while US is a foreign country.
