G20 Meeting In London : Any Hope For The World. by MT: 9:46pm On Mar 31, 2009
With the stage set for G20 members to address the global financial meltdown, is there any hope in sight at all. French PM threatens to walk out of the meeting if the meeting dont go as he hopes, brazillian president already said the prsent problem was caused by people with white skin and blue eyes.

With all these name callings, threat and Obama taking a centre stage across the atlantic for the first time, is there any hope in sight ??

I do not see any hope in sight with the summit. The economic recession is really biting hard into these developed countries. I cannot wait to see the drama the French Prime Minister would display during the meeting. Germany are not ready to submit to whatever Britain has to offer. The whole drama has just started seriously.

i was wondering if any of you have taken some time to study the French President.
There's something about him that set him apart from his peers.

check the following comments he and his advisers made between yesterday and today:

France will not accept a G20 that produces a “false success with language that sounds good but contains no commitments”,
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/G20/article6005810.ece

Asked if this meant a possible walk-out, Xavier Musca, Mr Sarkozy’s deputy chief of staff for economic affairs, said: “A basic rule with nuclear deterrence is that you do not say at what point you will use the weapon.”

If Mr Sarkozy's strident demands for a new, restrictive regulatory structure were not met then he would leave an "empty chair", the French president's finance minister warned, hours before President Barack Obama arrived in London to meet Gordon Brown before the start of the summit on the global economic crisis.

"President Sarkozy was very clear on that front, he said if the deliverables are not there, I won't sign the communique," Christine Lagarde said. "It means walking away. I think he's very determined."

he comes across as a rich powerful political thug and i love it. these leaders know that the meetings are useless.
no matter what they arrive at, the US will not want to anything about the climate.
the russians will never be satisfied and they cannot be ignored. the US see them as a big threat.

i think it is about time they called these 'show ego and power' a day

Just a lil rant with reference to the effect of holding this event in london

Firstly, i turned up to work on monday (I work in the city) and saw 2 mean looking guys with dogs screening everyone entering ma office.
Yesterday we were advised to dress down (even though i ain't a banker but just unfortunately have to be working in the city) today
Today after dressing down the whole place seems to be at a stand still cos of the protest.

I guess the bright side is for me to just jump out get ma placards and enjoy the weather.
