Hi guys, please a colleague and friend of mine wants to buy either a 2006 lr3 or a 2007 Ford Edge. Which is better in term of reliability and maintenance? We're aware the lr3 uses up a lot of fuel but he's leaning more towards it. Also also are there good mechanics Not kazeems oh that can work on the cars if there's an issue. He currently drives a corolla and want to change to get either of these Ghen Ghen cars. He lives in Surulere and works in VI and will drive daily. Currently services the corolla every 4 months and spends about 15k. Weekly fuel usage on the corolla is 3500. He earns 200k as take home and has the money to purchase the car. But he wants to know if the lr3 would cost him a lot to maintain. He plans to get comprehensive insurance. These are all his points but me I'm leaning towards the Ford Edge. My Google search shows that both cars were the safest for the years 2005-2008. Is the lr3 suspension issue very frequent Please assist as your advise will be appreciated.

LR3 is a better car on paper both will cost a lot to maintain compared to Corolla unfortunately your friend does not know a lot about cars which is why you are asking tell him to read online review and make his pick otherwise fall in line with the highlander crowd

Purchase is not where the problem is. Who says you cannot save up for a Rolls? It is running it as directed by the manufacturers. LR is for those who are able, and willing to throw money around. A 200k/monthish is not in that league, unless that vehicle would be his sole responsibility.

some people don't know what they are suppose to buy and for what reason. An LR3 is targeted as an off road family full size SUV will he be also conveying his family to work from surulere to VI, with that holdup and a fuel economy less than 16mpg, which he won't even attain in naija probably the LR3 will be doing 9mpg in traffic and 12mpg highway and if something fails in that car or it breaks down, they no dey drag tow nah pickup tow. Tell your friend to also factor in cost of parts and maintenance.

As for the ford Edge, goodluck on that.
