I have a male and a female boerboel.
I used to walk them everyday and we were always the look of the neighborhood till about a month ago when they decided to disgrace me publicly. they dragged me till I fell. I was shouting 'stop, don't, sit, wait' and every possible command my brain could recollect. Them no gree me o.
That was how I left the chains and walked bck to my house with them jumping all over me till we entered.

They re big now and playing with them is really difficult. Once I let them out of the cage, they start jumping on me and bathing me with- oh lord save me from that thick saliva! But when I try to tell them to stop they won't and they leave me with saliva face and nail scratches then proceed to play on their own. Its like they've gone deaf except of course they hear their names.

How do I get them to listen?
I'm wondering if beating them would help. As I also read if u hit d dog too much he may turn wild.


2. I have NO IDEA of what the heat, mating, and birthing process entails. I know the female has been on heat once- someone else noticed though.

3. Washing their cage everyday. DH has to go through washing off poop every morning and evening from their cage. Nd its getting tiring esp if he comes back from work tired and I have to convince him of how nice it would be for the dogs not to die. Can someone please teach me how to potty train these disobedient dogs?

4. Supplements. Each time I go to buy their food people always have one recommendation or another about supplements. Can someone pls tell me very good supplements for them?

Dogs are more sensitive than the humans, they hear a couple of things and could get attracted to anyone of them, and fixed. You'd notice they listen to you more in an environment where it's just you and perhaps your family. But they get distracted by The outside world, and they want to explore.
So, there must be a training to that effect, letting them know, the best of life is by walking by your side: heel training!

for their stubbornness ,you actually made the mistake..You didn't exercise dominance over them..You were supposed to be the pack leader here but it seems your not.In the wild they wouldn't dare mess with an Alpha.. Exercise dominance over them and sternly give orders..'sternly' cause dogs could could sense your confidence levels n they would push u aside when its on a low count.
For the heat period,its the period of sexual activity and arousing of female animals.Dams could get pregnant at this time..signs include release of milky mucus lyk substances from the vulva,swelling of the vulva,redness of the vulva,restlessness of the dam,loss of appetite n a whole lot..
He should just go ahead n clean them. Not doing that could cost your dogs..potty training is kinda hard with grown dogs.you could if u still want to..requires a great deal of your time..
For your supplements, asking your vet would do.Giving supplements depends on yours dogs need and what you want to see in them...

Dogs can be naturally stubborn, they always want to do it their own way, My advice will be, start a trainning ASAP, go to youtube and search for videos, read articles.

Make those dogs understand that you are the leader of the pack, the first thing you do is seperate the two of them, start with the female dog, start trainning her on simple things like come, go, sit, wait, stand etc

Above all spend time with your dog, anytime it does something nice, always give it a nice treat when they act well

But trust me , traiinning a stubborn dog can be frustrating

Wow!! I can feel your pain and frustration. It once happened to me until I changed it. Boerboels are naturally stubborn. So little spanking won't hurt them maybe on the head or mouth. But please don't make it often unless they disobey.
What you should do is release them let them play a bit in your compound before your normal walking or strolling. And when you give command don't repeat it million times ...sit, sit , sit, I say siiiiiit. For example. Zeus.......wait 5secs( he will run to you wagging his tail) then say SIT!!! Once. If he doesn't that's fine. You are not an expert but keep repeating it and other commands. Goodluck!!
N.B They will def jump on you. Cos they love you. Just like kids.

For now don't walk the two dogs together and when walking each make it walk beside you and train them one after the other ,with time they will learn your commands,After they must have learn your commands then you can walk the two.

I am always stern! Except if my stern is not enough.

As for potty training I don't think these dogs would ever listen. What I did through out this week was to release them in the morning, let them do all d pooping in the compound and lock them back in by evening. But I suffered for it. Clothes spread outside were torn, chairs soilt, plastics ruined with teeth, flowers half gone and lots of dead lizards!

Anything that must work, must be worked. He training isn't for just few days nor few weeks but until it works. Or you get correction collars if you can't invest time to teach heel. But heel is better.

You see, from experience when you have a male and a female Dog at home the male is usually the culprit , if you dont show them that you are the leader of the pack, unfoirtunately the male will try to take that space and usually every other dogs follow the leader.

SO you need to punish that stubborn dog, the easiest way to punish a dog is through neglect, neglect the dog for some hours, dont play with it, dont give it attention, take only the female for a walk, for about 3 days without the male, then subsequently take the male alone too.

learn to take charge and start teaching it simple commands

my simple solution
1. there are lot of energy and excitement in your dog.
They are not stubborn they are excited and I have watched documentary about ppl who have this issues.
when your dog comes to you don't look straight to their eyes, keep your elsewhere like you are not seeing them.
Then if they persist to keep jumping on you this is what you do according to Ceasar a dog specialist, you have to kick them using a back kick this sends a message to them that jumping is not allowed. Do this continously for atheist two weeks then they will be normal.

I discipline my dog but not beating may be a little spanking on the bombom , sometimes immediately I raise my hand, its ass is already on the floor waggking its tail, dogs can be fun and annoying

I'm not a guru but if u wanna get rid of poo take them outta the cage after feeding because they poo after eating moat times....2.. early in the morning too take them outta the cage...it worked for me...then try notice whenever they make unusual noise or whine in dia cage and release them; mine gimme signs when she wanna poo
MATING: there's a period of 21 days that blood comes out from the females vagina like menstrual period; that's the 1st sign and by the 10th or 11th day u can mate with a male; differs in dogs..google 2 know more

LISTENING TO U: feeding time is the best time 2 train them. make dem sit b4 u give dem d food....it takes time but worth it...den take dem out one at a time till u can handle dem 2geda

Update:
Yesterday evening I went to the cage with a long stick and. Released them as they were coming toward me I stretched the stick as if I was going to hit them. they took to their heels (which I don't like) so I had to drop it and enjoy the almost endless torture of extremely thick saliva

This morn I went over with pieces of chicken in my hand. NA sit! Sit! Sit I shout sote... I gave the female one piece.

When it was d males turn when I said 'sit!' He just jumped on me and pushed the bowl of chicken from my hand. That was how the lesson ended with him eating the chicken from the floor.

I'm thinking next time I should chain him before training ABI?
