On this,I don't think I agree with you..You gave examples of pack leadership in the wild..true tho..now u said when we claim to be pack leaders our dogs mind are far from it and they can do what they like.its at this point pack leadership comes to play.. your ability to make your dog kill his will to obey yours is what being an alpha entails..I have 3 dogs.2 rottweilers and a boerboel and I can say I am a 100% alpha..Now my boerboel being the oldest of the 3 will obey every single order I give.it won't eat till I order it to..it won't even leave my compound when the gates are wide open and am watching it without its knowledge.. when I knew i had completely got hold of the dog was when it was roughly 6inches from biting the heel and all i did say was ' chester stop!' it just stopped in it tracks and went to it cage without hesitation.. My rotts are fond of jumping on people but when it comes to me i just look then sternly in the eye and they bow simultaneously in submission. Thats what being a pack leader entails... So being a 100% pack leader is attainable

everybody is here to learn am not saying you can't be alpha but you can't be 100% alpha a dog can switch from being a follower to alpha in seconds that's why dogs tests there owners everyday in human world a dog can see you as alpha in a dog world he does not see you as alpha if you ask a dog to sit when it's feeding time surely it will sit. human for example if you are hungry and you are ask to sit before they give you food won't you sit. in your pack of dogs there is one they respect he or she gives the charge if he does not follow the rest may lightly not follow you I wish I still have the links to Cesar millan videos he said don't allow you dog to challenge you if it does and you loss it becoming the alpha dogs love to challenge and there is nothing you can do about it am not against him or his work am a big fan of his most of what I know about dogs are from him. someone said he is always incharge of the dogs in his show yes he is ,because he will have to give that position to the owner if the owner makes any mistake he loss the position if you watched the one he worked with a wolfdog he couldn't take the alpha position from the dog. even with a gsd mix rot he has to come back after a year for it. you can be a pack leader but you can not be 100% because the dog will challenge for that position and if you fail he has won that position some will still show the signs of obedience but of way they receive but within them they are the leader making you believe you are the leader while some don't obey because they have gotten that position a dog with alpha position and been challenge by other dog defends the position to death which human can't
