CHANDIGARH: Three Nigerian nationals were arrested for drug peddling in Chandigarh on Saturday. The arrests were made following a disclosure by Harjit Singh, aka Lucky of Sector 45, a drug addict and peddler who was recently arrested. Two of the three Nigerians had been living in India without valid visa and permission while a third was about to complete his period of stay in the country. Lucky was arrested on September 6. Police recovered about 120gm of heroin worth around Rs 10 lakh in the international market from the possession of the Nigerian nationals, who have been identified as Dennis Azuka Okoye, Ekpelechukwu Johan and Jackson Uzova. Police said they were supplying heroin in Chandigarh, Punjab and parts of Haryana. They said the main points of supply were discotheques and late night clubs. The peddlers preferred to visit Chandigarh during weekends. Crime branch Inspector Gurmukh Singh said, "During interrogation, Lucky revealed the name of one Nigerian based in Delhi through whom he used to get heroin. Investigations were conducted and a larger racket was unearthed. Okoye was the foreign national who used to supply heroin to Lucky." Sources said Johan, only one of the accused to be living in India valid documents, is also facing a trial for drug peddling in Delhi. DSP (crime) Jagbir Singh said at this stage, police are focusing on suppliers and peddlers, including some from the city. He said a detail record of consumers and customers is also being prepared for further action. The three accused were arrested from different places. Okoye was arrested near phase-2, Industrial Area and about 50gm heroin was recovered from his possession. Johan was arrested from near ISBT-17 and about 35gm heroin was recovered from him. Jackson was arrested from near 66KV station and 35gm heroin was recovered from his possession. Joint interrogation of the three Nigerian nationals revealed that they entered India on tourist and business visas but did not register with the foreign registration office (FRO). The development has raised serious concerns about drug trade in the Tricity, where incidents of drug abuse among school and college students are being reported constantly. http://m.timesofindia.com/city/chandigarh/Three-Nigerians-held-for-peddling-drugs/articleshow/48941727.cms lalasticlala |

naijathings: IGBO drug dealers need to be named and shamed before more of them die needless deaths. IGBO people are being brainwashed into this drugs thing and education is the key yo stopping it...some of that education is tribal bashing. |
