The other day our clueless president wanted us to be "sad" that we as "the giant" of Africa
hadn't been invited to the G20 meeting. Well, here's just one of the many
reasons. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/04/08/piracy.africa/index.html

Nigeria now being mentioned in the same vain as a completely failed state - Somalia.  shocked

Under his watch, Nigeria is slowly decending into a crime infested cesspit, reknowned only in
it's insurmountable capacity for crime perpertuation and illegality. With the active connivance of
his hugely compromised attorney general, our dear country is being taken over by a ruthless
and corupt cabal.

I have to say I miss the days of OBJ. At least the EFCC was effective and there were real
casualties of the war on corruption, selective or not.

Is there really any hope for us?

@joshO,

I have to say I miss the days of OBJ.
Nigerians sha.
Under Ya'radua, we miss the days of OBJ
Under OBJ, we miss the days of Abacha
Under Abacha, we miss the days of IBB
Under IBB, we miss the days of Buhari.

My point? The cycle never ends. Maybe we should try and look ahead and stop spending so much time looking behind. Perhaps if our youths spend some time looking ahead, they would not have been complicit in the rigging that accompanied the last election.  I must confess, Nigerians have truly been blessed with the leaders we deserve!

I wonder why we we should be alarmed at this.The difference btw nigeria and somalia is war.

@poster

Don't you know Obasanjo called nigeria a failed state in that london interview?

Even during the 3rd term saga, I did support obj's continuation in office, simply because the alternative (Yar, Buh, Ati) were always going to be worse, in my view. I think he did very well with the EFCC. Today that lame slowpoke, Yar, has stood by as Ribadu was humiliated! How will things work? What is there to fear now? I fear for our country, really. If things continue this way (and Yar remains in office), then we'll most likely be a failed state in 5 years and a breakup of the country will be inevitable!

The leaders are Mirrors. The head of state and his goverment reflect the collective consciousness, be it military regime, democracies, or anarchies. If a government is unstable or corrupt, or if a tyrann comes to power, it is because the collective consciousness is at that level. If the results of a government are limited, its is because the consciousness of the nation is limited. A government can never be better than its people. Nowadays, the focus is on the fruits, while it should be on the root.

Dude, Nigerians won't come here. We are busy debating if gay dudes should be allowed to eat or not. Objectivity is missing in all the arguments and conclusions I've read on Nairaland.
