Zimbabwe's 91-year-old President Robert Mugabe read out the wrong speech at the opening of
parliament on Tuesday, his spokesman said, blaming a mix-up in his office for the error.
Mugabe had delivered the same speech during a state of the nation
address on Aug. 25, in which he pinned his hopes on China to help
revive Zimbabwe's struggling economy.
"The mix-up happened in his secretarial office. Therefore the
delivery in Parliament should be set aside," spokesman George
Charamba was quoted as saying by the online edition of the
government-owned Herald newspaper.
Charamba said Mugabe would read the correct speech later at a
Harare hotel.

He didn’t read the wrong speech. That’s the only speech he has. Poor old dude has run out of ideas. He will probably read the same speech at Sikhanyiso’s heroic burial. LOL!!

This would be hilarious if it weren’t for the tragic undertones. Here we have a nonagenarian whose continued clinging to power is virtually turning him into a doddering human cabbage before our very eyes, and meanwhile our beloved country continues to burn. Silly old man now paying the price for years of misrule and corruption. Zimbabweans are a hard-working nation and deserve better than this sad and decrepit Machiavelli as our leader. As somebody once said, there are no bad armies, just bad commanders. We need a new commander please!!!

Makes no difference whether he reads the wrong speech or not – both are useless and will not change anything.

Zimbabwe needs a younger vibrant president who can match with the fast moving world. Instead, Mugabe can’t let go and yet his actions are betraying him. How can he read a full statement without noticing that it does not match with the event at hand. Last week’s addition of ministers in an already bloated cabinet rubberstamps it further. The main problem now is that he cannot monitor the day to day activities in all institutions thereby loopholes where lootters can benefit themselves. In the abudance of water a fool is thirsty. Zimbabwe is naturally blessed but you will only realise your blessings when you alternate your management top bottom. Thank you all.

What rat – that Bob is now completely …… Yes he is gone. If he prepared the speech for past few days (or hours) he would have realised that this is not my speech.

What it means is that the speeches that Bob makes are not his AT ALL. He is given a piece of paper to read all the time. That is why he sometimes goes “off-cuff” and talk nonsense for ever.

we are doomed maZimbabwe. Let us pray.

And why didn’t Mugabe do his job and read the speech when it was presented to him? Come on @Lewis, don’t defend the indefensible. Are you also going to blame the typist who typed it?

At one Heroes Acre burial Matibili read a speech in which he erroneously referred to the deceased ‘hero’ by a different name several times. But this was in the pre-gamatox days so nobody really noticed.

He’s only good at shuffling the cabinet. Since 1980 he has reshuffled it for 63 times. does the problem lie in the shuffled or it lies in the shuffler. Come on old man, pave way for others. Today’s incident symbolises the fact that nothing new will ever come out of you again. Reading the same script since independence.

This shows that as a nation we are now totally lost with a leader who cannot see the difference in the speech that he once read before the august house. If the leader fails to give a proper speech then it is the same with his policies all repeated over and over again and we will not go anywhere. It is high time Gushungo that you take your humble rest and let others do this job because in you confidence is lost; was lost; and was never guaranteed.
