The only workaround i can think of is this.
1. Get a windows 7 installation disc.
2. Use is to boot up the system.
3. Create a partition and install windows 7 onto it.
4. Use the new windows 7 you have installed to access your old files and copy them out. Bear in mind all your files will still be accessible but some of your programs will no longer work.
5. This will definitely solve the problem.

either konboot or hirenboot will get this done if you know how to use it. You can download or purchase it from where they sell computer accessories.
