In response to the government clarion call to individuals and corporate bodies to support education development in Ekiti State, the family of Late Pa Cornelius Olatayo Makanjuola in Efon-Alaaye – Ekiti has donated a block of 5 classrooms with staff office and modern toilet facilities to the government at St. Paul’s Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Efon Alaaye.
The building which was donated to the school by the children of Late Pa Cornelius Olatayo Makanjuola was to commemorate their father who passed on twenty years ago.
Presenting the keys of the building to the Deputy Governor, the first son of late Pa Cornelius Makanjuola, Mr. Rotimi Makanjuola, on behalf of the children said that their late father held education in high esteem during his lifetime and the best way to demonstrate this was to donate the structure to the school with the believe that it will enhance education development in the town and the state.
Receiving the keys to the building on behalf of the state government, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kolapo Olusola said that the gift was unique, being the first philanthropic donation from the people of Ekiti state after the Education Summit organized by the present administration.
Dr. Olusola who re-emphasized that education could no longer be left in the hands of the government alone, repeated the appeal to well-meaning individuals and groups to emulate the good gesture of the Makanjuola family, by supporting the aspirations of Governor Ayodele Fayose government to restore the lost glory of education.
He stressed that every contribution from the people to the development of education is worthwhile, adding that Mr. Ayodele Fayose would harness all available resources and manage them prudently to uplift the standard of education in the State.
The Deputy Governor who commended Late Pa Cornelius Makanjuola, who died 20 years ago, for his love for education in his lifetime, appreciated the children for their zeal and spirit to sustain the
interest of their late father had for educational development in Efon-Alaaye Community.
He urged others to emulate the good gesture and reposition education in the Fountain of Knowledge State to the fore front where it rightly belonged.
