Hello people of nairaland, i need ur help on this boerboel. I got it from a friend. I really want to save the life, the boerboel has an history i can not explain. She just got to my place yesterday. I have called my vert but she has not come yet but due to my explanation she said the boerboel has come down. The only thing i notice is that poo is watery, but she eat and work around, i gave her water solution mix with glucose. I am also thinking of giving her bullmax and gorilla max to help Bust her. Sometimes i begin to wonder why people keep dogs they can train, this is so pathetic, I have faith that the dog would live if given proper care.

deworm her 1st at lst till ur vet shows so u go make sure it's not some infection.....Buy Complan milk or one of ds high quality milk....I used fish gills with any fibre food; noodles, rice, sweet potato or bread and feed like twice or thrice a day pending when u see improvement. .u can get fish gills from Pepper soup joint or so......commercial feed cld cost u more so I suggest cooking. ......A vet is needed tho 2 be sure

I guess you are referring to Complan Milk mentioned in bacaboi's post.

Complan is a healthy milk sold in major stores, it costs averagely 1k (medium size).

Do you have history of what made her go down like ur vet said?
U might need to check if she is infected wth ticks to clear all sucking parasites,then deworm her.
But I will appreciate if u can answer my qs so we start from there.

this dog doesnt look like a dog that was only just maltreated, it also looks like a very sick weak dog, deworming is important yeah, d watery poo is a sign of fever, could be tick fever, parvo virus and so on. i dont wanna discourage u bt if u dont get a good vet, ur dog might not make it, plzzz try find a good vet, treat d illness first, d dog is not well, after treatment, den u could work on boosting d dog. bros it wont be easy, u go spend allot, and if its parvo virus, chances of survival would be 50:50

You seem to know quite a lot about canines, wouldn't it be better to humanely put this dog to sleep considering all you have said.. So sad to see a dog in this state..

putting a dog to sleep should be d last resort, if there are chances of saving a pet, its advicable u take those chances, considering d current scenario where d said pet is actually not for d op and neither has d op spent much tym with d dog, he might be reluctant to spend as much as d dog needs to survive, from my observation, dis would actually be d first tym d op has actually bin with a dog or probably a foreign one,(i may be wrong) posible he had always loved dogs. if dt is d case, all d more reason to not want to spend much. if he had taken care of dogs b4, there is a posibility of him wanting to take care of d dog, and if d condition is nt so impresive bt slowly recovering, d op might get fed up and stop spending which would eventually lead to a more painful death. my question to d op, are u financially capable of taking care of d vet bills? do u really wanna save dis pet? will u be patient enough? are u ready to take d risk? are u ready to bear a loss if its not successful? I believe u should be, for u to open dis thread. But my advice still remains get a good vet, dis dog is sick, its condition will get critical if not properly attended to, appart from d glucose and water, try semi solid food too like(ogi,custard together with that complan milk), raw eggs, and always ensure d dog has access to water, if d dog refuses to eat, use syringe, they are of different sizes, anyone u get, use it to force-feed d dog, d best way is to put d syringe by d syd of d mouth where d mollars teeth are, there are always openings there incase d dog refuses to open its mouth. d purpose of force feeding is to ensure d dog has something in its system to help gain strength. the raw eggs will help allot as d complan mil will. all diz i mentioned are tinz u would do on ur own part and not d vet bills inclusive, u must get a vet to administer treatment, he might administer drip deoending on d condition of d pet wen he sees it. As in the treatment they gave to here before he brought her to my place. 1. Rabies killed VAC on the 5th of Sept 2. Leptospira on the 7 of Sept 3.DHPP on 1st of Sept all these was just this month. And i also the she has been vaccinated, she eat and can walk around

They might have it on the card that they actually gave her those vaccnations while they truly did not.
If you discover ticks on the dog,u will need to get rid of the ticks 1st,and deworm,the dog does not really need much of vet attention but feeding,so to save u from spending too much.u can treat tick fever with tablets by urself and deworm also can be done wit tabs by urself.get a good puppy dry food for the dog"Arion pup preferably.

This is certainly not a case of parvo,if it were parvo the dog would ve been dead long before now.
This is obviously a case of malnutrition,and treating the skin of mange,and ticks,but since u said he has no ticks.
Just deworm frequently and feed high proteinous meal,mostly puppy feed.
But ppl are cruel oh.

I beg to differ......did you see barcaboi's dog before it was properly taken care of? Or vicdamm's dog (tuff)....this dogs were is similar or worse situation and they pulled through, with proper care I believe this dog has a higher chance of survival, it is way above 50:50..... Waiting to see d 'surulere' pictures of this dog.

oooo, she walks, if she walks and eats then she would survive.btw na woman e be? just feed her well, and deworm, treat d skin and den if u want her to gain weight faster, get a high quality dog food and feed regularly. u could still feed ur homemade food but must be regular and d result might not be fast tho

Take her to a vet hospital and let them conduct the following test on her first b4 any treatment
1.Blood test
2.Urine analysis
3.Faeces test
One the result is comes out that she is save n clear from any infection or disease. Then the rest lies in multivitamin,supplement n food. To those who want her to be put to rest,if ur child or ward is sick will u advise the doc to put him/her to rest............absolutely NO. So puTting her to rest. Aint an option

Does she feed by herself?f yes use the money to get her dry feed and a good multivitamin,as with her present condition its not the best to administer much drugs other than multivitamns.when she has gathered some strenght then she can start

for the wound..isolate her completely from where flies are; that's the 1st step.....buy wound healing oil and if she licks the spot, use a basket or Elizabethan collar to keep her head away from the wound....there's a gv spray too u can use.....update me
