Not knocking the miracle of childbirth.....but that smell is one of the most traumatising things in the world....(for me at least)
apart from other, attendant delivery conditions, adorable or horrifying (eg baby's head appears and the pain, respectively) as the case may be

LordReed, menstrual cramp is a picnic...5minsmadness is sooo right...from your posts I know the one who has been in on deliveries
I am way older than 13 cheesy, and I am a doctor, but the smell still traumatises me silly
How much more a young teenager embarassed

The woman may have scarred her precious baby off having babies for ever lipsrsealed
I say, bad idea

I going to believe that experiencing something is different from watching another experience it and on the scale of traumatising events giving birth would surpass menstrual cramps but the girl wasn't the one giving birth was she? Having experienced menses I am inclined to believe that she won't be as traumatised as you suppose she would however we know people are different and we really can't judge how the event affected her but on a general note I would say witnessing such a thing would have a positive impact on her. The was a story recently of a young boy who had to help deliver his baby sibling. Asked later what he felt, he said he was not afraid and was happy to be of help.

No signs of undue trauma on the young boy so I am very much inclined to believe a 13year old girl would be even better prepared to deal with witnessing her mother give birth.

Looking back. . . The teenager did not seem to be phased! Maybe I am putting myself in her shoes as I was once a 13 year-old.

I don't think I would have recovered from the trauma. But hey! These are different times.

A 13 year-old from the 70s is not the same as one born in 2005!

I may just be a prisoner of my own world after all.

Still thinking though. . . . . undecided

Did you see the news of the 10year old that assisted his mom to deliver at home? Boy says he wants to be a doctor in future. I want to believe I would have had such guts at that age.

A bit too extreme in my opinion. What's wrong with teaching with diagrams like in a biology class?

Experience is not the best teacher.Wisdom is the best teacher.
You also can learn from the experience of other people and not necessarily have to go through the experience.

Bros, I wish I could like this a thousand times.

I am amused because you seem to underestimate the psychological trauma of seeing menses for the first time. This is something some people never quite recover from and add to that that they have to see it 12+ times a year. Seeing a live birth in my estimation is as "traumatising" as seeing blood flow out of you for no explicable reason (for less informed first timers). That girl will know how "stressful" childbirth is and will be oriented to the sacrifices a parent/mother makes for children. I have not seen a live birth but from descriptions and the videos on the net I have a pretty good grasp of what it would be like to be there and I am pretty sure that any man that is opportuned to witness it would appreciate his wife that much more rather than be merely overcome by the event.

She asked you a question which you conveniently evaded. Mr. Man, the question still remains, have you actually witnessed a chikd birth before?

Is Nigeria without legalized immorality any better?

I tire o. The way Nigerians think that America is Sodom and Gomorrah amazes me. Some of the things that you hear that comes out of Naija just amazes one at times.

In my opinion, Nigeria is morally better than the US.

There is a difference between hiding to do what you know will be frowned upon and doing same with impunity. MHO.

And have you been to the US before?
