You have gone for the job interview, you did your best and your CV and your credentials show you have the qualifications for the job. The interviewer said you’ll hear from then soon but more than a week has passed and your phone still hasn’t rung and you’re getting impatient.
That’s what job seekers pass through.
When you’re waiting to hear back from interviewers about a job, time seems to be passing at a miserably slow pace, and each passing day can be torture.

Being anxious at this stage may actually harm your chances of getting the job and may drive you to actions that may impact negatively on you.
Below are 5 negative actions anybody may be tempted to do when waiting to get a reply on something, but should never do.

#1
Always Be Available In Case Of A Follow-Up:

If you wont be available for a few days after the interview, and you are in the final stages of the interview, it will be in your best interest to let the interviewer know.
This does not mean you should postpone every other activity during the wait.
Not being available may be misread by the interviewer as disinterest in your part. You risk them contacting you with an offer, not hearing back an moving on to other applicants.

If you wont be available for a while, just send your interviewer a quick email to inform them and let them know of your return date.

#2
Never Stop Trying Out For and Interviewing For Other Jobs:

No matter how suited for the job you might be, no matter how the interview went, an no matter how positive the interviewer’s attitude may be on you getting the job, never presume that you’ve gotten the job. A better candidate can always come up, someone may pay a hefty sum to secure the position, the company might decide not to hire any more and many other factors may arise and wreck your chances of getting the offer.
Until you truly have an offer, don’t assume on getting any particular job. Keep putting as much effort as you would as if you knew you wont get this job to avoid squandering valuable time you could have spent on talking to other employers.

#3
Don’t Lie About A Nonexistent Offer:

An occasion may arise where candidate, in a bid to increase his presumed worth or for some other reason, will concoct an offer, hoping it will speed up the process and increase his chances of getting an offer.
This is a risky move because there is a probability that the interviewer would eliminate you from the options because they may not be able to speed up the process and would not want to prevent you from taking an offer with another establishment .

#4
Don’t Worry Too Much When You’ve Not Yet Gotten A Reply:

They not called for a while, does that mean they have hired someone else? Does it mean they’re no longer interested?

Being too obsessed with the outcome of the interview may do you more harm than good. Being fixated on the outcome of the interview would not help your chances of getting an offer in any way, but will instead make you depressed. as an alternative, make a reminder on your phone or email of a subsequent date in future to check in with them if you have not heard back. Or else, leave it to be a pleasant surprise if you finally get an offer.

#5
Avoid Checking Up On Them Excessively:

It takes a lot of time to go through a lot of candidates and making a selection, which makes the process of hiring much longer than both the candidates and the interviewers expect. During the wait, you might be tempted to check up on the interviewer more times than you actually should.
You could end up putting a dent in the good image you put up during the interview process.
That means you should avoid sending them emails repeatedly when you don’t get a reply to your first email after a day or two, call recurrently or check up on them when the selection is still in progress.
An employer who wants to hire you will inform you when you are needed. They will usually give you a period of time to expect a reply, and when that time frame has passed without you hearing from them, you can then check up on them.
