Wrong Perceptions About Fg's Fight Against Corruption by DanG1(m): 2:32am On Oct 04, 2015
Hello All,
I have been an ardent follower of Nairaland for a while but had been on the reading and consumption part. But today I felt there is a need to address some wrong perception on the war against corruption by the President Buhari led FG. (Warning: Am not a very good writer)

Everyday I keep reading that President Buhari's corruption campaign is one way, is partial or is a witch-hunting affair, but you should all know that the officials you are seeking the FG to interrogate are not directly related to Presiddent Buhari's objectives for now.
The President has always made it known that he is after the country's treasury looters, he has not named any names, he has not made any allegations against any person or persons. So it pains me to see Nigerians claiming he is witch hunting or after some group of people and not others.

The President Buhari Led FG is after people who have served the country in the Federal level and those that directly affects his office.
You are all asking him to Probe Amaechi, Fashola, Tinubu, Obasanjo etc. He has made it clear his fight against corruption is focused on his immediate predecessors and not those before. That means he will only be focusing on the Ex-President Jonathan led Administration, you all should know that the task of going after the immediate past Government alone can take up the whole 4 years, so how do you expect him to go way back to 1999? Knowing fully well he might not be able to achieve any other goal if he has to do this? Please let's respect the President and just sit back and watch him work rather than distracting him.

To the issue of probing Amaechi or Fashola, you all should understand that these ex-Governors are not directly related to the FG's office and should and can be probed by those in their respective offices now. Wike has been after Amaechi and that for me should be enough and we should call on Ambode to go after Fashola and not the FG because their positions are not directly related to his office.

Please let's us all wake up, be objective. let us try to join hands to make sure that Nigeria grows and not acting in ways make this government fail.

One love to you all

He's fighting those at the federal level yet he left out Obj, Atiku, Farouk Lawan, all former ministers and senators.

He's targeting federal thieves yet he withdrew the case of Sylva and gifted Audu Kogi ticket. Which one is Federal, State and Local government thieves @ oP?

Sincere and patriotic Nigerians won't find a fault in your position.

As straight forward as it is, those who are irresponsibly and unreasonably partisan will still find a way to pick a hole in it. To them, if the FG cannot prosecute all past looters, it should not attempt to prosecute any.

Their reasoning is very difficult to understand.

Btw, you're a good writer.

GEJ never pardoned Alamesiegha... The Council of State that comprises of ALL 36 Govs, All Past Presidents and Heads of State, Incumbent Senate President, Speaker and CJN among others did. In fact, there was NO dissenting voice. Ask Oshiomole

You read what I wrote and you should give a thought to your response, the lot you mentioned above are they part of the immediate past FG government? And your speculation that he withdrew a case and gifted Audu a ticket, can you quote where the President said this? Where he said he is withdrawing or ordered for the withdrawal of the case against Sylva? Until then its speculations and it is unfounded. Our media are doing more damage than good these days

Not part of immediate past government yet they looted more than the immediate past government.

Thanks! My fear is the way most Nigerians have divided into more destructive ways, most are just after "dem say', there is no one after the truth.

The media has also not helped, they keep on speculating, making news these days full of "Sources Unknown" and this is a shame.

We the youth or progressives should be fighting for Nigeria and its future not been ethnic or destructive in different way, I hope we can start working towards that.

Thanks Passingshot

I don't get you guys sometimes. On one hand, you say GEJ fought corruption better than Buhari is hoping to. On the other, you ask why Buhari isn't probing Fashola, Amaechi etc?

I ask why GEJ didn't probe them. Since they were not probed by his Govt, was it because they passed his 'attackCorruption' tekinologee? They were in opposition, remember? If GEJ's government never probed them, why should Buhari?

If you insist Buhari should, then you admit you hold Buhari to a higher level of responsibility and probity than you did for GEJ.

Op, you're a salient analyst. Meanwhile, do not bother yourself with the rantings on nairaland as most of these guys are not well informed in reality.
What i deducted from the present time is that we don't have credible opposition party especially the PDP, all i see is a group of hate-filled people living daily with the anger of defeat and hallucinating from the hangover of their lost ground hence wailing where there's nothing to wail about.

The past administration never believed in hounding anybody as a means of fighting corruption. Rather they adopted a more strategic approach of blocking all possible loopholes that were used to perpetrate corrupt acts. Nevertheless, they still gave the courts of law a free hand to try established cases of corruption.

Now, since your current dictator believes in a adopting a controversial but potentially fruitless approach of hounding supposedly corrupt people, I am not against that, but all I am saying is that he should not be selective.

As a matter of fact, your president is presently on a vendetta against his perceived political opponents. If he is serious about fighting corruption, he should start from at least obasanjos administration.

BTW, I know that your president is not serious about the corruption thing. All he is doing now is to further deceive gullible Nigerians and give the false impression that he's fighting corruption. Anyway, he can only deceive the gullible minds, not someone like me who is intelligent enough to know that he's only on a mission to loot.
