man they got you on that one,  the problem is that some men dont want to be honest in these situations.
i would have openly told the girl that i am paying for her MEAL and since she invited her girlfriends, she can pay for THEIR meals.
wtf!? be a man and stand for your shit. whats next, the whole family come over and you have to foot the bill too?
since you are somewhat shy to tel them to their faces, here are some excuses you could have told:

-as they arrived you should have said that you just got a phone call and had to run back to the office, dinner next time!
-tell them that since she brought her friends, you only brought money for 2(you and her) so you can only pay for soft drinks!
- if the price of a meal in that place is 3000naira, tell them that WE HAVE TO GO TO A PLACE WHERE THE MEAL IS 1000 since its 3 of them.

the easiest thing a woman will try to do, if you dont pay, is make you look like you are cheap/poor or stingy. tell them to their faces that its all about respect and bringing her hungry friends because you want to mess her is a cheap trick. you invited ONE and will pay for ONE, if thats not good enough for her then she should go and find some mugu elsewhere.
