As long as you walk it off after a heavy egusi and fufu meal I think you fine, most folks in Nigeria under go physical activities daily so they fine, not like people like me who just seat around my @ss all day.

they werent living unhealthy lives either. They had NO tylenol, no need for regular medical checkups and most of them were far stronger at 70 than many of us will be at 50.
The problem is not cholesterol, it is the processed foods you all eat today.

Processed oil, hamburgers, fries (guilty as charged!), inorganic (and tasteless) chicken . . . why wont America be so obese?
Re: Eat Egusi, Die Early by Nobody: 1:46am On Apr 24, 2009
We're not living in the same environment as they are.

We don't know why the egusi did not hurt their health neither do we know what factor turns on/off their genes.

What works for them might not work for us.

No wonder naija women dey robust this days. Keep feeding on egusi and ponmo. grin grin

First time, I agree with TOH about egusi. Moderation plz!
Re: Eat Egusi, Die Early by Hauwa1: 1:50am On Apr 24, 2009

They didnt have tylenol but they did have "herbs" (agbo". Stop making them out as super people. The amount of Nigerians in Nigeria with diabetes and cancer is alarming. You jsut dont know that cos they rather say "awon ota lon se won"

For kicks coz it looks tasty too, I will cook (egusi) this meal and present it.

Question:  For dry fish can one use red herring/salt fish coz i don't think they sell  "dry fish" in NY, but I stand to be corrected

By salt fish you mean the one used inmaking Ackee & Salft fish. If it is then it's the right one now. Dried salt cod. you basically prepare it the same way you would if making Ackee & Salft fish  (soak overnight,  etc etc, )

Any African/ West Indian grocer should have it. I think you can get it in Europen deli's/ fishmongers as well ( the portuguese call it baccalà, (sp).
